Actually no, the stories I usually hear are where they succeed and are treated as a "legion", at least related to things like doxing.
Publicly posting a murder's a little different.
Didn't read the other responses.
Pro doxxing
- It's your own responsiblity to prevent being doxxed.
- It's part of the forum culture.
- "No moderation"
Against doxxing
- keeps members at distance, which opposes the concept of a community
- doxxed info will be indexed by search engines and enables anyone to see the connection between the doxxed person and the forum
- it might affect uninvolved people like TKs daughter and other family members
I am for deleting doxxed info. There are many ways to spread it anyway but at least it won't show up in search results.
'Doxing' (didn't know it had a name, clearly I was doing it before it was cool :p) was an integral part of the culture of the old forum. The regular 'outings' were a highlight, serving both as a form of entertainment and pest control.
Now, I realise this is not the old forum, the people and culture are different here. It seems a lot of newer posters, particularly those who migrated from pf, are used to a more formal structure with a set of rules. There are many, many places on the internet (Psychforums, Psychcentral, Crazyboards, MHG to name just a few) where you can go to discuss personality disorder type issues in that kind of setting if you wish. To slowly erode the culture here and turn this forum into another generic mental health board would be a great shame.
I would have thought it was fairly fucking obvious that, with a name like Sociopath Community, if you choose to register and post here then you do so at your own risk. But perhaps some kind of disclaimer, as many people have pointed out, would protect the owner from any liability and remind any retard who needs it pointing out to them that this is not the place to share personal info.
Say TC posts a pic of his living room that has a piece of mail in the corner. I blow the pic up and can read his address and post it to the forum. TC fucked up. Now suppose I send email to his family, employer, SO, neighbors, and whoever else telling them about the forum and that I know his name and where he lives, etc. I might have crossed a line.
If I hack TC's computer to get his personal info... Not cool. Line crossed.
If, over time, TC talks about himself enough to find out who he is... Too bad. Change details, time shift, obscure details.
The line can be fuzzy and hard to see.
The "fight club" rules are pretty good. Putting a permanent link at the top of the site with them is a good idea. Just be sure to stress in it that this is a forum FOR AND ABOUT SOCIOPATHS. Act accordingly.
Here's an interesting question. If someone gets doxxed, what can they do to the person that doxxed them?
No, it' s Michael Prey. He's too invested in the conversation to be a total newbie, and he speaks as one with a stake in the outcome. Besides, there is no way would Thriller say something like this: "Inviting it (by simply being the type of environment it is) does not justify the behavior. Should psychopaths and sociopaths be exempt from the law simply because we allow them to live in society and therefore, are inviting their behavior?" Also, Tk is Australian. She would likely spell "behaviour" in the British manner.
Nah. Considering the nature of his frequent cock-fights with Shrillpill, it is unlikely that Socio would say something like: "Malicious - intending or intended to do harm. Why should something of that nature ever be acceptable here?", unless he was deliberately attempting to obfuscate his identity. Even then, he would probably choose another tack. A simple deductive process reveals that it's likely Michael Prey, I tell ya.
