I think that much of the material covered by your sources pertain to NPD itself, rather than people who're just fucking narcissists.
A true narcissist at their core is probably painfully self aware that what they say/think of themselves isn't really. It's why they create and bathe in a fake world.
A true person with full blown NPD is very unlikable by most people that know them. They might be envied for their possessions and accomplishments but that's all people look up to them for. (i.e a CEO)
Doesn't make them non-functional, because let's be honest you don't need to have a personality with everyone to make money.. like Steve Jobs. Charismatic, great accomplishments, but there is a lot of literature that describes him to be a not so nice person.
You are all cunts. Every single last one of you. Stop pretending to be psychoanalysts and talk about something worthwhile. For the most part, you know nothing apart from that which you have gleamed off the web. As for those of you that have actually studied psychology, you will be the first people to admit that you don't know that much/it's all a crock of pseudo-scientific shit.
Stop trying to fit into a niche that makes you think you have some kind of super power. Stop pretending you don't feel things, because I know you do.
Most people here are, at the very least, fucked up in the head. However, there seems to be some kind of obsession with claiming possession of a cluster B disorder. For this reason, you are all scum of unfathomable depth. You should be trying to make yourselves better rather than desperately grasping at something that defines you as inherently weak.
I want to slap every last one of you all until you wake up and stop living pointless lives based on what you want to be, rather than that which you are.
Cunts, scum, wastes of skin - every one of you.
I'm off to climb a mountain and have fun.

I will agree, there is flaw after flaw in the methodology and study of the field of psychopathology. It has some very unscientific bases, and even less scientific founders.
But, the point of all of this, at least for me, is to get ideas and perspectives with which I can broaden my own. This is about separating what is from what we want.
Regardless of how many times I'm told I am self-absorbed, emotionless, fucked up in the head, or even heartless/dangerous, most of the time I usually come to the conclusion that I am not disordered. I never thought that I was disordered, and the possibility of me thinking that any time in the future is very low.
Sometimes, the things talked about in psychopathology fit and explain some behavioral/psychological anomalies. Simply looking into this field has gotten me more interested in the structure of the brain as it applies to general function, outside of the world of disorders. Discussing these things helps the productive person become more self-aware, and gives them information that can allow them to better themselves. I have seen parts of my personality from different angles because of discussions on here. Some of these angles pointed to dysfunction, while others pointed to positive tendencies I never noticed before. Seeing the shitty, mental things that some people deal with helps us see our strengths and/or weaknesses. With that, we are able to emphasize our strengths and solve our weaknesses.
These discussions are productive, or entertaining, and those are the only purposes they have ever served. Other than that, this forum is a tiny aspect of my life.

You probably think that because you aren't very good at it. Or, you can't do it optimistically.
by StayonhereLeviathan,
I joined because i thought it was a psychology forum. Now I just fuck around on it.
It is good that it has made you look at yourself in a different way. I think it is useful just to be aware.
HAHA- I just typed that and then read Pink. ^ lol
I saw the black background and knew there were going to be some psycho-wannabes and freaks on here. When the threads on the first page are things about rape, murder, and decapitation of any and all women, you can't assume that the members are going to be professional, informational, or credible. I only take discussions on here half-seriously, if at all. It hardly affects anything I think unless there is ample, observed historical evidence within my experiences, or within the more scientific studies in the field of psychology.
