Is anyone else having this problem?
I think that requires the Autisrism genes that I just didn't get. So no <3
Simple. Everyone has a few Cluster B personality traits - including narcissism. A disorder is diagnosed when those traits accumulate such that they meet the DSM-V criteria (or the DSM-IV-TR for those who are still using it) and one of those criteria includes a clause which states that the symptoms must significantly interfere with one's life and/ore relationships.
Now, most people with NPD don't seek help voluntarily. So yes, I could have NPD. I'm not ruling that out as a possibility - I'm saying that I haven't been diagnosed with NPD. This means that no one has been significantly affected by my narcissism to urge me to get therapy (or perhaps they're too afraid to. That's a possibility, too).
However, you are conflating the trait of narcissism with the Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Have you been on Facebook lately? There's plenty of narcissism floating around up in there and I assume that that shizzle doesn't end when the users log out! If you read your Theodore Millon and your Jerold Kreisman, you'll find that modern researchers believe that our society is gravitating towards the production of narcissistic, antisocial and borderline traits - if not the fullblown disorders themselves - in its mass consumerism, obsession with personal individualistic status and success, and shameless individualism. I personally don't have a problem with that and I'm sure you don't either, but it's worth considering.
