You pleb. Have you even read her?
She also fetishized a serial killer and went on welfare towards the end of her life.
She may have been a total sellout, but this doesn't detract from the beauty of her writings.
You sound like a fan of Pandemic 2.
Also, wow, some of this seems borderline nihilistic. That's somewhat unlike you.
You may want to hide this blog post further down the line. Some companies might not want to work with a self-proclaimed stoner. Not judging you on that, but others are likely to if they stumble upon that post.
Nice blog post Luna. You know if you ever want to talk about anything I'll be listening. You remind me of myself when I was younger, in the sense that my self-worth was mostly based on my accomplishments and contributions.
Something I said years ago: "when I see someone do better than me and achieve more in a shorter time, I feel inferior to that person".
It could be that I'm talking utter nonsense and you're going through something different of course.
I'm not going to tell you not to base your value on extrinsic things. You're going to have to make up your own mind. I chose not to chase only external accomplishments but it could well be that I chose the wrong road -- or maybe the right road for you is something different. Anyway, continue to search for yourself.
Best of luck :)
by Luna Preyour lives are nothing. even the entirety of human existing is nothing. it can be squashed out in the blink of an eye. that botheres me.
Why does that bother you? Surely the fact that life is precarious is the very reason that it is so special.
If humanity were to be wiped out tomorrow, would it invalidate the entire human experience? I think not. Longevity is not the only measure of success.
humanity should be a bacteria spread across the galaxy. and perhaps more. we shouldn't simply barely exist on this little rock that has a limited life span..... we should thrive. we should continue studying this universe, and grow our understanding. and harness that power to ensure our society exists for millenia!
Everybody dies. Why should it ascribe meaning to one individual life that they are part of a society that lasts for millennia, as opposed to one that could be destroyed tomorrow? Nothing that your descendants do will impact your life now.
I believe that even though I'm only myself.... my consciousness... the non-machine part of me comes from a higher consciousness from which we all exist. In this way, we are all one, and perhaps when we die, we go back to the higher consciousness, and maybe are even born again. Science hasn't said much, but after considering all I can about science, this is the conclusion I've come to. The physical realm isn't all there is to it. We know this because the universe has rules. Unchanging variables. As a programmer, I find the way the universe opperates to be very disturbingly similar to a way a program might opperate. For this reason, I believe it's consciousness that is real, and the Universe is a product of it.
Anyway, I believe that by helping the entire Human race to move foward as a species, I'm also helping my future selves. I mean... let's consider if I was born a Chinese... I would not want to stay in that country, but in today's society, what option do they have? Well, 200 years from now, perhaps they could choose to get a loan from Luna Corp, buy a very user friendly spaceship manufactured on the moon that runs on android, and go mine asteroids near juptier. This would be an option to them. This could be an option for anyone wanting a new start, or to leave Earth.
There is far more than that. If Humanity spreads throughout the stars, we would live in a much better societiy than we exist in today.
I don't know... the short answer is. I believe I am a part of all life, and I believe I always will be, and so the contributions we make to Humanity today will reward our future selves in the future. ![]()

I hate the idea of a shared higher consciousness. There's no way to prove or disprove it, but it just seems like wishful thinking to me, like wanting humanity to be something more than highly evolved animals.
I think individuality is one of the most interesting things about humanity, I'd be thoroughly disappointed if it turned out we were basically the same consciousness. I mean, theoretically we'd be the same person as dexter ffs...
And as for life stretching out for all eternity in some higher plain, or being born over and over again. Fuck that. If life isn't temporary then I wouldn't want to know about it - it would seem boring really quickly.

If the physical realm isn't all there is to it, or even the important part, then why spend so much time trying to improve it?
If you're talking about intelligent design, I personally don't subscribe to that, but I think this discussion has already happened.

There's already so much to do on earth and so many places to go. Individuals do already have a lot of options, but these are limited for many because of poverty. Would that really be any better just because of technology advancing? There would still be people who couldn't afford to go to the stars.
There is far more than that. If Humanity spreads throughout the stars, we would live in a much better societiy than we exist in today.
It won't change human nature.
