Good observation.I got the same vibe, for a long time, that luna has some self esteem issues which she shouldn't have.
Luna, don't base your happiness just on external accomplishments. You have nothing to prove to anyone, don't be this stressed out. Escaping your issues by taking substances is a bad idea, you're just hiding the dirt under more dirt.
My brain does too much stuff unless I put Mary in it. Its hard to care about what other people think without getting angry, but she takes the edge off real nice. Makes me want to be creative or pay attention to things that I don't normally have time/energy for.
its not proving to others.. it's proving to myself. i've always felt like i could do big things for my life. likely because i'm a narccist, but the point is i've always wanted to do big things, and i've always been scared that perhaps i'm not capable, and that i'm just deceiving myself.
currently, this business is 1.5 years old. it's made about 10k in total revenue. we have a lot of growing to do to keep it alive. keep in mind, i want to use this business as a starting point.. i want to build off it, and grow my company into a company large enough to have a meaningful effect on the world. i'd like to help fund the space elevator, and a moon base, and establish a nice community there.
these are my dreams. my fascination for this universe is the only reason i choose life is worth living. we are social creatures, so i understand it is natural to think it's "sad" that i don't think life is worth living for love, but i think love is a myth. i see the true state of humanity. we are a little bacteria on a spec planet in a very hostile universe. we need to be aware of that, and use that knowledge to grow ourselves so that we may be able to continue to exist as a society.
you could say i am a devout worshiper of the one true god. science. i dedicate my life to better understanding her mysteries

I relate to this a bit. It exhausts me to deal with most people and weed helps more than anything.

I agree with the first part of this, but not at all with the second. Humanity is insignificant, so what's the point in preserving it? How would colonizing the moon or other planets make life meaningful to anyone?
think larger... zoom out until you're looking at humanity from the perspective of... the edge of the solar system. WE.. are neurons existing on a little spec, and in this universe.. which we most certainly live in, we are so small. our lives are nothing. even the entirety of human existing is nothing. it can be squashed out in the blink of an eye. that botheres me.
humanity should be a bacteria spread across the galaxy. and perhaps more. we shouldn't simply barely exist on this little rock that has a limited life span..... we should thrive. we should continue studying this universe, and grow our understanding. and harness that power to ensure our society exists for millenia! 
we need to get all of our eggs out of 1 basket.
