Are you sure, buddy? Want me to grab my good ol' knife and we'll decide if it's 'easily defended'?

"I hope 300 yard isn't your idea of sniping distance. A point target for a standard issue M16A4 without optics is 550 meters."

I said 300 yards or greater. That could be a 1000 yard shot. If your mission was to take out a specific target and that target happened to be at 300 yards. Would you set your sniper rifle down and take the shot with your iron sights ?

The lack of weapons knowledge here is making me cringe.

I have shot 300 yard targets with iron sights with my colt M4. You would be a fool to try to make a vital shot with iron sights. The silhouette is the same size as your front site aperture. I know my weapons dumb ass.

Yes.  I'm sure.  100%.  You'll loose your knife and... Well, what rhymes with knife?  I suppose if your gonna go that route against a drunk in a bar fight you'd be OK, not against anyone with any training though.  Hammer fisted knife is considered the "crazy bitch" tactic in my circle. Very easily defended.  Rethink startegy, buddy...

So, if someone breaks into your house while you're snoring away in bed, and they approach you very quickly, but quietly with a knife, you could easily defend yourself?

Eh... 300 yards with iron sights on a M16 cake, even in the standing off-hand.  I do agree though that even at a 300 yard shot I wouldn't want to leave many variables open, hence the Barret... with scopes of course.

I don't think you know what a hammer grip is. Please educate yourself before making embarrassing statements like that. I recommend the book Knife Fighting Techniques Folsom Prison by Don Pentecost. Unfortunately, it doesn't contain any bullshit martial arts defenses that is taught to you by some fat 'sensei' at your local strip mall.

1). I don't snore.  2)  I'm a very light sleeper, but of course if someone were to attempt to plunge a blade into my back while I lay sleeping in my bed (I sleep on my stomach, hence the no snoring thing), then no... That would be impossible to defend.  I'm a sleep, remember;-)
