Given so many around here have thought I was male and I am actually a female, it made me curious. What is it that makes someone think i'm male?

While we're at it, do you make an assumption that someone on the forum is male or female before you actually know? What helps you make that determination? The way people type, supposed inflection, user name, avatar, etc..?

 I thought you were a guy because of the time you were talking about kicking Virus's ass. At least I thought that was you.

 You have me confused with someone. Definitely was not me.

 My bad. Fuck, now its going to bug me who it was that was talking shit to Virus.

It was probably me. Though, I never claimed I could kick Virus' ass in a hand-to-hand fight. Maybe whoameye just assumed I meant that when I didn't.

From what I've seen, it's not just the avatar. It's even come up in cases online where an avatar was absent. It's like the minute my voice is taken out of the message, it's suddenly seen as more feminine. It's weird.

As for the attempts at aggression, why would I want to be aggressive?

Is that really all it takes to be seen as masculine? Being aggressive with more obviously male imagery? It has to be more than that.

His avatar has always looked completely male to me. The shading on the lips and around the eyes slightly resembles makeup, but the hair, jawline, and neckline of the shirt are overwhelmingly male, so I couldn't imagine him female.

 Ditto. Never occurred to me that Turncoat would be a female.
