what are you looking for in an employer? For those who aren't 'parasiting' what are the traits/practices of your perfect boss?
Considering I've had numerous jobs in the past and may have to work again in the future at some point, I figure I can answer this thread.
I wouldn't mind working again if I could find a job that had flexible hours and offers work that is exciting. I'd hate to be stuck in an office all day. That would drive me up the wall.
My perfect boss would be myself. I hate working for other people. But assuming I have to work for someone else, I would want my perfect boss to be the opposite of me. Someone who is gullible and naive, easy to manipulate. A boss who let's me get away with a lot and won't fire me if I end up going to work late, drunk or stoned (as has happened in the past).

Damn you must really be young to be asking this question. Common sense would tell you. That a good boss leads by example, and treats everyone equally.
Only if I were the favorite.
I think it's a terrible idea to treat everyone equally because people aren't equal. If you have two employees, and one of them comes in late and takes long breaks but does exceptional work, and the other always comes on time and follows the rules but does mediocre work, it's fine to have different standards for both of them. You're indulging the first one by valuing his work over the rules, and you're indulging the second by forgiving his work because he's conscientious and is putting in effort.
The first one will wonder why the second still has a job when his work sucks, and the second will wonder why the first still has a job when he's always late. I think a good employer is one who knows how to balance treating people differently so that everyone feels they are being treated well.
Years ago I was a big wig for a company and ran all of purchasing, among other things. I worked with high end companies that sell things from fragrances to leather goods. I remember the day I had to walk into my boss's office and tell him I had made a 250K mistake in items I had purchased for the stores. He looked as me and asked if I had made this type of mistake before. I said no. He asked if I learned from the mistake. I said yes. He told me to go back to my office and continue doing the job I had always done.
That is reflective of a good boss. A good boss also knows how to delegate. In the end I would never again work for someone else. Nothing beats working for yourself.
