The older generations of Swedes have a much more distinguished Swedish accent when speaking English than the younger generations have, regardless of origin really.

Mmmmmm

Swedes generally speak pretty good english.

Younger swedes can sometimes speak english without any trace of an accent, which is more than the english can usually do. Still like the sing song lilt though.

Humanity won't fail because of the depletion of natural resources. Technology will be our downfall. Our society has come farther in the last 100 years, in the realm of technology, than any society of mankind in the history of the world. Statistics will dictate that when you have a rapid rise in any area, eventually you will hit a "peak" and after that the tides will turn and what was a rise, will be a rapid fall.

I think technology has stolen just as much as it has given, and our ability to create and use anything we wish to attain whatever we want, as a culture, will back fire on us and be the utter downfall and obliteration of what our society has become.

True.

I'm on the fence about the accent though, can't decide whether I like it or not.

'Utter downfall and obliteration' is a bit melodramatic, don't you think?

It is my belief that like Rome. The United States has already hit its peak. And we are in the beginning stages of our demise. We will destroy ourselves from within.

Considering what we have become. I think it is appropriate.

What should we do. Nothing.

Thats a problem for the future generations,  we'll be dead long before we see any effects of overpopulation.

But if we were faced with this problem, I would imagine making more artificial islands.

And where do you think we will find the funding. For such colossal endeavors such as the artificial islands.

Why has the U.S. already hit its peak? It's a relatively young country after all, especially when compared to Rome.

Also, humanity continued to evolve despite the momentary setback that was the fall of the Western Roman Empire.

I believe our technology is evolving faster than we can keep up. We are tampering with stuff now we don't fully understand. For every peak there is a fall. We the United states are basically in a stalemate. Waiting for some miracle. The American dollar is falling apart. Soon the price of oil will change hands to another currency. We dont have the money for any more leaps in Technology
