by DaddyThat's just it, you're priority should be you're survival. But there are many elements that go into the concept of survival. acquiring food, reclusive shelter, and weaponry is only a small part of that. What else would you do?
And that's the thing with survival. People who don't think about it and live on "spur of the moment" don't fair well in those situations because they can't think them through. This is an exercise in just that.

I love how you twist things around, lol. I already told you that I would ensure my own survival first. So, clearly I do have a fucking clue. I don't need to go into step-by-step detail of how that would be achieved. Gathering supplies and weaponry and finding a safe location is all you need to know.
What I choose to do AFTER MY SURVIVAL IS ENSURED (did you get it this time?) is what I'm not sure about, because it's my pleasures that I tend to seek on the spur on the moment.

People with advantages in that situation:People that own and
know how to use firearms, People that know how to land navigate with a
compass and map, people that know how to fight and kill, people that
understand and are experienced in wilderness survival. Those people will
definitely have an upper hand... in fact there is a whole "survivalist"
culture dedicated to it.
You are right but what I meant is that a sociopath loses the advantage of his (or hers) "anything goes"-mentality, since in a situation like that everyone's survival instincts kicks in. "Ordinary people" would become desperate and willing to do anything to protect their families and children. The ones who would stand the best chance are those you describe, but also the ability to function in (or lead) groups would be important skills.
Hopefully a well designed early warning space weather network would allow a 2 day warning whereby power grids could be powered down along with satellite systems. But come to think of it, the event of 1859 was a massive solar flare that affected the magnetic field such that it induced currents in the existing telegraph system and fried transformers. There was no EMP. Only a nuclear blast creates an EMP.
