Your plans are not at all that well thought out.

1. If your home is over a couple miles away. rucking it with a wheelbarrel will be a hefty task. (thus causing you to consume more calories when you already have a limited food supply) and it will also make you an obvious target. Even if you went through the woods (which would greatly slow you down and increase the difficulty) You would still make a lot of noise and draw attention to yourself.

2. If a burglar visited you at your house, there's a high chance that they too are armed. How would you ensure you'd have the upper hand?

3. Why would you question and trust the information of someone who was previously robbing you who are being held hostage themselves?

4. Why would saving your house be a priority for you?

5. The crisis may eventually be resolved yes, but as I said earlier, many experts estimate it could take several months for power to be restored. And the military and police forces would also be unable to react. Most modern humvees also have elecronic componants in them.  So the militaries mobilisation will also be limited. They will also be spread very thin if we are hit (and thus a potential target to be attacked by foreign nations.) and thus will be VERY limited in what help (if any) they can offer. And just to reiterate. the human body can last around 22 days without food and 3 days without water. Compound this with the fact that people will resort to drinking unclean water which will cause dysentery which will further dehydrate you and eliminate your energy through vomiting and diarrhea and people eating unclean and improperly prepared food. and many diseases will become rampant quickly.

6. How would you flee the country if electricity is out everywhere? Walk? Do you know how far you are from the border? Do you know if the bordering country has also been hit by the emp? How do you know things aren't worse there? There are no means of communication to find out besides going there. Do you know how to land navigate without a GPS or phone? do you know how to tell which direction is north at all times? do you have a map? Do you even know how to read a map if you found one?

It would probably take a few months to reach that point. Initially it would start off with looting, then robbing others for their resources. Then people would attempt to hunt wild animals, and then human meat may eventually become a viable option. I personally have no qualms with eating human flesh. Meat is meat... They say human flesh has the consistency and taste of pork.

Ok... well... what would you do after that?

My main priority would be my survival. Anything else would be an after-thought. So, I can't tell you at this stage because I'm not in that situation.

I prefer to take my pleasures on the spur of the moment, rather than planning ahead. Well, most of the time anyway.

The fact you woke up to this means you are SOL already. The looting and stealing happened already. Now its just the walking dead. The sun could very well do this where as an enemy could not do this widespread.

In the summer of 1859 it happened and the same magnitude would easily cause a lot of widespread havok globally. 

the american dollar will not survive a disaster like that. But gold, silver, even copper would be a smart investment.

It dosent matter how many guns you have, all it takes is one exp hunter 300 yards away to turn your head into a soup bowl. You would never know what hit you. So luck and some basic survival training would be your best bet. And learn how to low crawl. lol

That's just it, you're priority should be you're survival. But there are many elements that go into the concept of survival. acquiring food, reclusive shelter, and weaponry is only a small part of that. What else would you do?

And that's the thing with survival. People who don't think about it and live on "spur of the moment" don't fair well in those situations because they can't think them through. This is an exercise in just that.

And you're basically saying you don't have a fucking clue what you'd do...

Do you have a military background or are you just a redneck?

The looting and stealing will move in waves and "the face that you work up means you're sol" is BS there are many things to take into account. Including how recently it happened, time of day it started, etc.

Just be careful about the brain. Wouldn't want tremors to impair your aim, among other symptoms.
