Hold out as long as possible.
Interesting, But how can you assume that the captors dont think as you do ? Never underestimate your opponent. You should assume
that they are capable of the same things you yourself would do. Depending on the information you have and how that information might
affect others, has a great deal to do with your decision to reveal what they want.
I assume your scenario you gave was of a military setting. That being said I am assuming that because of there background checks,
you would not have a personality dissorder. The mental state of the victim has everything to do with the outcome.
"Turncoat, I imagine you have a limit of pain intensity over which things wouldn't feel good anymore, right?"
I have my limits for initial harm, but the sting after feels amazing. I've been trying to develop a stronger tolerance by bracing through increased levels of pain, knowing what comes after will feel that much better as a result. After a point I stop feeling the harm entirely and become strangely passive and euphoric. Tends to be uncontrollable laughter if I am trying to keep my wits about me. I guess the best way I can explain it is that pain is sort of like a hot tub for me.
After a certain amount of time has passed, I can be depleted of whatever makes it feel good, and then it becomes very unpleasant, replacing the feel-good pleasures with something similar to over-stimulation... on top of the pain itself. It's only happened twice, but I'd imagine a torture scenario reaching that point.
Not really sure how I'd respond after that...
Edit: Come to think of it, if they aren't giving me a steady supply of Zinc, I'm likely to become increasingly delusional the longer I'm in captivity. I wonder how reliable I'd even be as a resource.
That depends on a multitude of things:
What they wanted to know,
how sensitive the information they want is / the perceived consequences of me divulging the information
how time sensitive the information is,
who they were,
My method of confinement: what sort of restraints are being used
The location I'm being held,
what methods of manipulation/torture they could/would use,
how long I've been held captive,
what my physical and mental condition is,
what my chances of escape were.
The fact of the matter is, everyone will eventually break if properly interrogated. The question is how long it takes and what methods of manipulation/torture the captors are willing to use. Anyone who thinks otherwise has no fucking clue what they're talking about.
