And I never said psychopaths were the next step, I said sociopaths were and if I didn't that's what I meant.

Though the two terms are often used interchangeably (even among psychiatric professionals, in my opinion they are distinctly different. by that I mean that psychopaths are just low functioning sociopaths that most likely fall on the autistic spectrum and ofcourse, that's just my opinion... ;)

No, I said psychopaths don't experience a heightened sense of affective empathy.

There are only three times in my life that I remember experiencing affective empathy and on two of those occasions I'm not even sure if it actually was affective empathy or just something that I could relate to because it triggered a memory from my past.

I'm curious, Daddy, how often do you experience affective empathy?
