You have 2 options.

1) Posts are hidden (including original poster), topics remain visible.
2) Posts and topics are hidden (you can't see the topic whatsoever if it was begun by someone you blacklisted).

Neither. I want to know as much as others, suppressing the flow of information contradicts that. Same applies for the Chat which I am yet unable to access.

I haven't read how the blacklisting feature works but I was thinking this could cause puppets and harassment. Basically Dex type behavior for the person who has chosen to mute someone.
