Catastrophizing vs. Optimism

I realize these are two different sides,  pretty much the two extremes, of a wide spectrum.

When the shit hits the fan, or seems like it's going to,  where do you stand? What goes on in your mind and how do you handle it?

Do you share how you feel with others, or do you generally clam up?

How do you respond to others who catastrophize? How do you respond to optimists?

If I'm in the company of people who catastrophize, I catastrophize.

If I'm in the company of optimists, I be optimistic.

Neither of the above sway my mood, I just meet them at their level to establish common ground.

And now for my college entrance exam essay, a question by Paranoid Delusion.

I'm a cynical optimist if that makes sense. I see good in bad situations, always. I can blow up at misplacing a trivial object but stay calm and see the good in complete adversity.

If you don't feel like sharing,  then don't :)

Quite frankly you haven't seemed hesitant to talk about yourself before,  "dexters sister" hah

Do you have specific triggers that cause you to lose your cool as far as your optimism goes?

Not really. My nickname irl is "The Cucumber", and no, not because I like to do naked squats on them :O
