You might not give your money to churches either, but if you frame your worldview in terms of what is 'sinful' you're participating in their paradigm.

I can't say what is typical of all humans. For that, you might want to look into sociology or anthropology. If there's something specific you want to understand via discussion with an outside perspective, I might be able to give insight.

.I'm not sure I agree with that.

I'm sure you already are familiar with the origin of the word "sin" ,  so I won't bore you with a lengthy explanation of the etymology.  I think a more accurate comparison would be if I were to say that "error leads to hell" would be engaging in their worldview/institution/dogma. This is similar to me saying "I have a disorder, and therefore I  must get treatment ".

If I say " oh my god " I am no more monotheistic than I am a psychobabble - believer if I say " I am narcissistic ".  It's a descriptor,  an adjective, a summary of traits we associate with a word; not a thing. Words are insubstatial concepts we use to describe concrete things and are open to interpretation and multiple applications.

This is true, but if you post an introduction that begins with "I recently saw a psychiatrist" and ends with a paragraph wondering if you should be diagnosed with sociopathy instead of narcissism to explain what is 'wrong' with you, I find it hard to view you as an apostate.

I don't have a problem with people who believe in psychology, so whether or not you do is irrelevant to me. I just think you have some sort of internal conflict where you both reject and accept it, which is why I pointed out that it might help to not do that.

This is where the last part of my original post comes in about not being able to cover the full scope. I'm retaking a math class to raise my GPA before I go to a UC. I've always struggled with math,  and when I tried to get educational assistance I was told that the only way I could get it was by sitting down with a psychiatrist and getting my head shrunk.

My hand was forced in a way,  but it took my a whole semester to make the decision to do it. It wasn't easy and it wasn't pleasant.  You'll also note that I question the diagnosis I was given. This is simply because I don't invest my faith in the industry or the system. So no, I'm not a believer, I haven't imbibed in their particular brand of kool aid. I was  just doing what I had to to get a tutor and a quiet room to take tests in.

So are you or are you not wondering if you might be a sociopath?

Also please define 'sociopath' if you're not using the psychological criteria of 'antisocial personality disorder' for your non-diagnosis.

This entire topic is very confusing to me.

You sound like an average teenager to me... I think most go through a similar nihilistic phase... I'm not ashamed to admit I thought about suicide alot at that age.

I don't think it's normal for the average teenager to think about suicide a lot at all. Thoughts of suicide aren't normal. They are a result of depression and I don't think most teenagers are that depressed.

What was causing you to have suicidal thoughts, Daddy?

I never thought about suicide when I was a teenager. Suicide is for those who can't handle living, which equals weak. That's my view of it anyway.

Confusing; I get that a lot.

Sorry,  I love to digress, debate,  and argue (in case you couldn't tell lol)

Yes. In short I am wondering if my behaviors and thought patterns are sociopathic.  If I understand correctly there are some definitions that go beyond the DSM definition.

I don't doubt there was a more direct way I could have gone about this.

No,  I was lucky enough to have an awesome dad. It's way easier to get what I want from him than my mother,  too. That bitch was the one who sent me to The Ass of the World,  Utah.

If I had to pin down a cause I'd have to guess isolation and lonelines. My mom had me doped up on ritalin and I was a socially awkward child to begin with.

I can agree that I was an emotionally weak child. As I've grown up its changed, and I'm an adult now so naturally im more physically and emotionally mature/strong.

Edit: just realized "daddy" is a username. Derp.

My thought pattern,  and perhaps why I'm more content now, has shifted from being "wrong" as a person to; which of my actions are "wrong". With this method of self analysis I find issues much more easily changed and  dealt with;it is generally more successful in getting me where I need and want to go because other people react better to me. It's my way of breaking the larger dysfunctionality into tiny, bite-sized chunks.

Psychopaths aren't introspective. I'm not sure if the same is true of sociopaths. The fact that you are very introspective means you're not psychopathic, and the reason I don't believe you're a sociopath either is because you seem to live by a moral code (judging your own actions as "right" or "wrong").

Psychopaths and sociopaths lack a moral conscience.

I'm afraid I can't answer that for you, but I hope you find an answer you're satisfied with and that you put the information to good use.
