Hi Luna
(2) The difference would be setting it up to be self-sustaining training to build more schools, instead of the same people doing all the work and everyone else depending on them. I already spoke with Deepa Willingham of PACE Universal, who liked this idea. Of organizing teams of college interns receiving credit or getting paid to help her set up more schools. So they can eventually learn to do the fundraising, construction, managing and operations by themselves and not depend on her, since she is in her 50's.
Also the idea of sustainable funding, not depending on one time donations grants or handouts. Really teaching nonprofits to buy, own and manage real estate in endowment trusts, similar to large foundations, so they replenish their money. Most of the nonprofits only use donations. Paul Newman did start a business to generate funds for charity; this idea is to teach people how to train teams to manage a whole site before they go out and replicate it.

(1) The thing is.. even if I wrote a proposal to the Bill Gates foundation or something, who am I for them to trust millions of dollas with? I am a 17 year old girl. I'd say chances are, they would take my idea, and hire some old 50 year old man to do it who has already seen a lot of success in something like this.
(2) Also, I'm sure the idea has been proposed before. I don't think it's such rare an idea creating schools to end poverty.
^ As for (1) ^ this is not sustainable to have the same old executives doing all the work. Who is going to sustain and replicate the model after they are gone? The whole point is for the older experienced execs to mentor younger leaders through the process. So we save time and money on the learning curve NOT making mistakes. People learn faster so we create more independent generations faster.
if some 50 year old man wanted to get involved, I'd ask him to join in as an investor or mentor. There is plenty of room for ALL LEVELS of participation, no competition. if there are more people who want the same job, then set up another site! we need more schools anyway!
There are many more historic landmarks, houses and businesses that could be bought out and revamped to create training jobs for disabled Vets (or for helping abused women in recovery) and break the cycle of poverty everywhere.
I don't see any shortage of jobs. I see shortage of people with the vision to see how it can work. But once we get a working model going, and publicize it online, anyone can replicate it. It should take off because all communities face these same issues.
