Hi everyone,
I was considering Emily's discussion about the idea of schools in Africa, and I wanted to expand on this. As you guys may or may not know, I really love business. Whenever I get bored of doing w.e I'm doing, my literally fallback plan is to pace my room looking at my dry erase boards which on them have a list of all our clients, and potential clients, and accounts, and everything relating to the business. So as you can guess, I would like to help the world while still being profitable.
I really believe it's not that smart to simply donate money to a charity. Simply maintaining a population of Human life while not teching that life how to fish so-to-say is a money sink. And, what's more, is that it's difficult to get the ruling powers of the world which are corporations, and small business to take notice when there is no financial incentive.
This is partially because humans are selfish by nature, but also becasue capitalism is a force which unites humanity, and as a result creates the potential for collaboration and much more can be done. For this reason, it's important that if we want a large portion of humanity to contribute to a cause, we should do our best to provide them with a financial incentive.
So when we consider how to help a poverty stricken community, it is important to primary schools to the children, but also to provide higher levels of education that focus on an area of expertise that will be demanded by the world. This will raise the financial value of that population to the world, and their GDP will rise.
A great example might be.. a large corporation with billions to invest chooses to provide higher education to a poverty stricken populace, and fund research projects that have the potential to make major improvements to problems that face the world. For example, a Nano Tech College.
If we can assume that the college was good enough to create true experts in the field of Nano Technology, and then funded original research which contributes to Humanity, and then introduces ground breaking technologies that contribute to the world, there is no reason a silicon valley of nano technology would not be found developing in the region of this school as investor funding pours in, and students create startups.
