Babies!!

A baby's cry is irritating and it's meant to be so that we'll cater to it's needs quicker to shut it up.

I'm not sure why it would cause anxiety though. Are you saying that when a baby cries you can empathize with it's 'suffering'?

I've never thought of a baby as suffering when it cries to be fed. It's really just a form of communication.

A few years ago I was able to identify it as a type of grief they trigger.

ha ha I like the way you break it down simple.

What about when the fuckers just cry - they're fed, watered, pissed and cleaned and they CRY!!!! How the hell do you help them> this is partially why I never opted for kids - too freaky to be responsible for all that need.

Not at all.

What grief is this of which we speak?

Just a deep sadness and feeling of responsibility that I can't fulfil. In other words I don't know what the fuck is wrong with you (baby) and I feel it is my problem to fix. LOL something like that

Grief generally refers to something in the past, not the future.

oh OK I understand Medulla.  Poor word choice on my part then - an 'uncomfortable sadness or weight' perhaps is better

I think it was the perfect word choice.
