by EdvardLook, there are many interpretations of this. In Eden, man had knowledge of God. He lost that after he listened to Satan, that's why Satan is considered evil. Some say that wasn't even God's punishment, but a consequence of man's choice. Knowledge of God is what Christians strive for.

All religions seek some knowledge or wisdom of God. The key is putting all this knowledge together, by agreement in "Christ" or by "conscience" which connects all people.
Every person, of every faith or no faith, has some of that truth to contribute to the whole, as the people are one body. What divides us is fear, which Satan is used to represent, while God represents love of truth that sets us free.
