I have brought up being a mother. (On the last forum)

Interesting to me, how feminists and Mother bears, both understand what it feels like to kill those who would hurt their family or loved ones.

I watched the latest episode of Walking Dead with my eldest son. He sometimes has a problem with such a feminist Mother. A female acts in a very "unfeminine" way. I totally understand her. My son, totally does not.

I imagine it is as hard for me to "tone down" my feminism, as it is for others to" turn up "their lack of feelings.

Feminism can be explained in terms of humanism that includes "all people."

The collective "people" or "humanity" are commonly symbolized as "female" (such as "America" or "Mother Earth" being "her") where we are "equal under the law" or "the Lord" in the relationship, where govt authority is personified as "male." But the same "people" make up the govt collectively, as the "people are the church body."

Fighting for women's rights to end oppression is just one angle of fighting for human rights to end oppression.

It ends up being women fighting because that's who suffers more from the trafficking, abuse, rape, war and slavery going on. The women and children and workers are the ones at the bottom of society suffering from the disparity.

He actually is quite a sensitive young boy.

It is just funny to me that each time I identify with being a woman or having a political viewpoint, he calls me feminist.

My younger Son, has no problems.

Well I guess he's too young to know the history of humanity BEGAN with matriarchies first

and then the patrilineal traditions took over with control of church and state by written laws.

In Iceland, I was told they are so used to having female leaders, they laugh at the idea of men leaders.

Maybe explaining to him using Elephants?

That elephants govern their packs through Matriarchies.

Some cultures are like that. The Jewish mother, the Native American or African mothers who play a role while the male leaders play a different role.

Humanity worshipped Mother Earth or Mother Nature as creation and source of life in their artwork and religion

long before written laws and religions made God out to be a heavenly father.

Maybe you can show him LADY LIBERTY and LADY JUSTICE are both WOMEN figures, so this ain't nothing new!

Before I say this, let me say that I am totally pro- women's rights.

Now, your views delude your understanding. In the vast majority of all groups and societies all across history, women were the weak child bearers and men did the work. Women could go out and pick berries and if they were good enough, maybe a rare group would let her hunt, but understand that men had the monopoly on women since as long as we can remember. A matriarchy is very rare and lady monarchs were frowned upon by many. The history of humanity in no way began with matriarchies and it is not the church's fault. Lady liberty and lady justice are just like the traditions of ships being "female" and countries being "female." They birthed the people or the idea. They are the mother.

Maybe some research would help ;)

Hi Caleb I believe there is still karma out of balance.

Yes there were matriarchies before patriarchies. Someone I know did research on written records of Catal Huyuk the oldest civilizations in Turkey. Art history shows pagan fertility goddesses and earth mondalas worshipped as Mother of Creation.

Pagan/goddess worship was a key target for genocide in early Bible history. "When God was a Woman" cites exact Bible passages on killing off baal tribes worshipping the Queen of heaven to instill patriarchal laws where women and children were property of fathers' estates passed down by laws written by men.

Many political activists blame the social trend of valuing men as "hunters of meat" worth more than fruits and vegetables picked and harvested by women and field workers. And this meat industry and managing supply/storage divided working class from owners, or the rich and the poor.

While religions will attribute the imbalance from spiritual causes in a spiritual process of reconciling.

These are both right. It is both spiritual and physical where these differences came from.

We may never agree on all causes of disparity we see today, but generally agree we should treat ppl with equal respect to break the cycles of oppression regardless which problem came first.

Solutions are the same, to seek liberation from being oppressed or imposed upon by one group on other. You can blame different reasons but let's fix these problems regardless. At least we can agree on some solutions.

Here is one link about matriarchal traditions in Egypt (also reflected in their artwork. Note: the Egyptian culture is unique in depicting the Sky Goddess as Female, and the male on his back trying to fertilize her from below, since their crops fertility depended on irrigation coming from the ground, not water raining down from the Sky. Most other cultures made Earth the female fertilized by the rains from above. As cultures moved from worshipping natural earth to worshipping ownership of it, power shifted more from egalitarian to patriarchal laws ruling over property.)

 some more resources

The chalice and the blade

l when god was a woman

Any teachings you can find on what Lillith symbolizes

Before Eve and what that symnolizes.

If you prefer to stick with Christian patriarchal lineage

The book *Saving Paradise talks about the early church as Egalitarian and the later crusades 1000 years started the Political oppression of killing for power in the name of God.

So maybe that timeline would suit you better.

The timeline i cite is prehistoric before the Hebrew lineage which adam and eve represent. So it depends where you start your timeline.

Caleb not everyone agrees on the timeline.

Many ppl only consider the bible to mean the 6000 year Mosaic or Adamic lineage and are fine with that, and dont consider the 4 million old remains of prehumans outside their knowledge. So we may never agree on these things but just focus on what we're doing today that matters. And thanks for bothering to discuss and debate this deep topic. Most ppl don't ask and don't want to know how deep it goes.

He must have heard/learnt from someone that being a feminist is a bad thing, why would he otherwise have a problem with it? Such a shame that such convictions still exist nowadays. I think that it's a great thing that he has a feminist mother and hopefully with time he will be able to see that.

I view it as a yin and yang, all of us male and female have certain feminine and masculine traits, and that's ok. I'm a definite mama bear type, I can be scary, but I think that it's totally ok and feel very feminine in that role. I don't see it as a feminist or a masculine thing at all.

Feminism has become a joke.

There are some amazing women who do things like work for women's rights, but the popular perception is flooded by circlejerk "safe spaces" where they whine that video games hurt their feelings, and others who think they have the "right" to do whatever they want without being negatively judged by anyone.

There is a label for the different factions

VICTIM feminism and

POWER feminism

similar to scarcity mentality vs. abundance mentality

Two denominations that you can find in any movement of any kind, not just feminism.
