This is exactly what sociopaths do. It's may not be true love they express but they know what the receiving party wants. That's why they're effective.

 I'm fully aware of that. It's easy to fake being romantic, using romance as a manipulative tool. But Daddy was claiming to actually be romantic. If he is romantic, then he's not faking it for manipulative purposes.

Sociopaths are not romantic for the sake of love or emotional connection.

I think he's being sarcastic. I've never read one post on here that would indicate Jay is truly romantic. 

 Maybe he just likes romantic stuff like flowers and candle light dinners.

a sociopath can wear many masks, romance is a strong one to have in your arsenal furthermore i think it would be quite ignorant to assume you know the intricacies of someone based on the two dimentional charectors written on this forum... we only get pieces of one another here... there is much more beneath the surface... at least for me... i would assume the same is true for most others here...

ofcourse its for the sake of emotional connection, few things can make for a more powerful tool of manipulation. dont be so naive.

The only reason I don't think you're a sociopath is due to the comments regarding your ex.
