i'm not really sure what this means. it better not be an insult! you will fear my authoritai!
so, i was actually debating watching this show on netflix, it's in my list.. anyway, hearing you talk about it made me just watch the first 2 and a half minutes. if alex sadler is the old terrorist guy, i am totally not like him.
i like corperations. i think they are great machines that you feed human creativity and what is produced is human progress. the government simply needs to not be influenced by them. this means our government needs transparancy. it's the only way. any man who decided to serve this great nation and become congressmen, must, for the good of our nation, give up his financial privacy for the rest of their life. our government serves us. that's why we fund it. we don't serve it.
i personally am taking a path in my life where my goal is to become leader of a large corperations so that i can use financial influence to try to shape the world in this way. right now my company develops websites for small to medium sized businesses. in the future i would like to develop our own software and market it. an example of this software is this forum itself. this is the design i'm working on now for our eve online website plans.
so for now i will work on my sales team and bringing in a steady flow of clients. then i'll hire freelance help as needed to complete projects and meet deadlines ,michael will ensure quality results, and we will be build up some capital. then we might branch into app development for google glass if it's good enough. eventually i want to be writing graphic user interface for all kinds of different interfacing technologies that will come with the future. i find i'm good at understanding what people want in user interface, so it's a natural talent i can use to my advantage. hopefully we can become a name brand in terms of program writers.
Oh no, I rather like my username as it is, I wouldn't dare insult you.
In seriousness, it wasn't an insult. Part of the field of art isn't just talent, but how well you sell yourself. A lot of said selling is giving a bullshit explination about the thought process behind it, and many artists arguably follow that frame. The minimalism movement had a lot of this, where a blank canvas or single color wash can be notorious only for it's exposition.
Many art classes try to touch on "What is Art?" by just blatantly asking their students. The answers vary strongly, and what I believe itself is seperate from what is practiced in the name of profiting off of it.
Art, to me, is about eliciting a response. If a piece of art offends you, makes you sick, or otherwise causes a strong negative response in general, I see it on par with art that makes you cry, makes you feel joy, or even has you become lost in it's extreme craftsmanship. Art doesn't require talent, but talent certainly helps in pushing the strength of said response.
I appreciate high quality craftsmanship in art, but I'd argue it's not always required.
