Proving one's own existence

Can it be done? I want to hear anyone's logical reasoning behind why they believe they exist. Go.

Proving one's own existence

Before anyone says "I think therefore I am," lets analyze that. I want people to think about this statement and provide any logical reasoning behind why they think that just because they think, they must therefore exist.

Proving one's own existence

I exist in this universe because my decisions have an impact on the variables from which the universe defines itself as-- as it moves through it's own process.

Had I never existed, and my mind was nothing more than a biological bot, it would have listened to it's emotion and base desires and never had the oppotrunity to look at the world as critically and objectively as I do. My observations and objective decisions based on that data play a role in the variable that could not have been before defined. Therefor, consciousness is the unknown variables in the universe.

When we look out at this universe, most of what we see has a fate that is predetermined. It can be calculated based on data. We who exist create opportunities for change in the universe based on analyzation and logical thinking.

This ability to use the universe's own logic and rules against itself to master not only nature, but the universe itself is quite special, and since I play a role in that, I exist

i'm pretty sure you just answered yourself there bud...

existance is the state of being... I experience reality there for I am... therefore i exist... now proving that anyone else exists is another problem all together.

All of that is predicated on the assumption that the universe even exists in the first place.

Can you "exist" in something that does not exist?

If a sociopath falls in a forest, and no one is there to see him raging against the tree whose root he tripped over, does he still exist?

While I can't prove it, I figure my existing makes more sense to me than not existing.

I'm more curious to hear logical reasoning why we might not exist. More creative anyway.

Have you thought about the opportunities that present themselves as "choice" are actually pre-calculated paths and therefore we have no impact on anything?  What if these opportunities are just incalculable, we just haven't been able to see beyond using our simple computers?

Just as "big data" is able to create a guaranteed high rated T.V. show on Netflix, will "giant data" be able to analyze the world in all its existence, and predetermine everything?

To clarify, I am not rebutting your view, it's interesting, and so I'm expanding on it.

 Whoever said the universe exists?

 Exactly.

Ahh, this reminds me of the atheist perpective. "If we have no proof of its existence, it does not exist". Therefore, nothing exists :)
