I personally had a lot of "self study" in the area of masturbation. It still doesn't compare to the real thing, no matter how long I make myself edge. Something about the energy of it all, the smells, the textures, masturbation lacks that runner's high and tingle under the skin.

How would you say you gained talent in this area?

 It's actually highly encouraged by the kama sutra, and when I was younger I went through a very deep phase of exploration, and how I learned about it is how I learn about most things i'm interested in initially... I did tons of research... I've read about as many articles on sex techniques as I have psychology and philosophy... when I have an interest... I like to absorb as much about it as I possibly can... And then, I apply the knowledge, with powerful effect... :) 

My life philosophy is: Always a student, always growing.

I've done a fair deal of research myself, but it just isn't the same. Led to being able to control when I orgasm during sex as well as a deeper understanding of my kinks, but nothing makes masturbation feel anything close to sex. It just feels empty when compared side by side.

 I'm not talking about my physical appearance. Do you rate your best sexual experiences by their physical appearance or their appetite and abilities?

That's a fair point... but my narcissism can sometimes override my appreciation for their skills.

 I tend to think that mentality is more common for females who tend to thrive more on the emotional sentiments tied to sex.

That's sad in a way. Do you ever wish you could be satisfied with someone that you know is a good fit for you other than one superficial or insignificant part of them that your narcissism finds unappealing?

Are a narcisst and a sociopath similar in that they can both just "turn off" whatever feelings (real or otherwise) for someone?

Except I have problems with empathy. I'm not really fixated on the emotional aspects (beyond an analysis of how well or poorly I'm doing), but it's more about how I physically respond. When it's just me, there's just feeling. When there's another, there's pheremones that with a large enough wiff can practically blur my vision if I'm lucky. There's the feeling of skin touching skin that is friggen tingly at the right times in the right places. There's sounds that both stimulate and give cues to performance quality (ego boost).

And in my own case, there's my algolagnia, where without pain, I usually can't lose myself to sex, being prone to mental distractions and tangents that may very well be unrelated (like sorting out a grocery list, or planning my day).

With everything in order, sex feels like being on ecstacy. Alone, I'm too aware of what's missing.
