I think Humans choose to be conscious.
I mean, what is conscisouness? It's the unification of several living things who agree on certain ideas, and realities that explain what this world is relative to ourselves.
The consciousness seems to come down to a single mind, but when we look at history, a single mind never accomplishes anything. that mind MUST influence others by financial or through a network of respect.
What this menas is that those who aren't smart enough, can't influence others, and choose to live a life of hobbies, children, drugs, and other distractions.
On the other hand, those who find they can.. get things done-- so to say, even if they are small, the individual gains a certain confidence that encourages them with the idea that they might be able to accomplish their dreams, and as a result, they work to hone their craft. They continue to shoot for more than just basic happiness because they have seen a glimmer of hope, and that evidence is all that is needed to turn someone insignificant into someone who has a lasting, positive impact on humanity.
The point I'm trying to make is that consciousness isn't something everyone has. Doing what the TV, and society says.. It's not a way to live. It doesn't create the opportunity for individual oppinions to be even considered much less formed.
Consciousness isn't this thing chasing happyness. That's your brain. The physical thing that has evolved and exists in monkeys, and I'm pretty sure all mammals. Consciousness is the spark of facination and interest and passion, that puts you into an envrionment and onto a journey that no other human has experienced. This is what creates true individuals.
So when we consider all of humanity from the top down, and we look down onto this planet, and see it's individuals, and their daily lives, how many of you look like ants? Just doing the same things everyday, playing your role in soceity. How can anyone call that consciousness?
Consciousness is the random ant who is doing his or her own thing. Following their dream. Their passion. Taking reality and choosing to control it instead of letting it control them.
Long live Luna!!
