Let's hear your favorite.
I don't know... I really have no idea. Too many stupid things to count. I almost drowned yesterday. I was out with the boys doing some body surfing and over-estimated my abilities (I'm not 25 or even 30 anymore, LOL). When I finally managed to get my ass to the shore I was DONE! The trick is to never panic in those type of situations.
Let's see... Been blown up a couple times, there was a rappel tower incident that I should have bought the farm, fire fights... um, I honestly cannot remember all the dumb shit before I joined the military; and then SINCE joing, welll... shit.
Why do you ask?
Well I know you guys, you'll just jump at me with more questions...
I'll be brief: helicopter crash, there was literally nothing I could do except wait for the impact, lost consciousness after the impact but got away with only superficial wounds and two broken ribs.
And the most terrifying shit I've been through, I got caught in a horrible snowstorm in a very isolated place. All communication down, freezing as fuck, very few supplies, no one around for miles... Each day I felt my body struggle to keep itself alive and slowly loosing the fight. It was only by a miracle that the rescuers destined to come after me and the other 2 guys I was with found us. I got away with only a few superficial frostbites, but the others had more serious ones and one of them even lost two fingers and two toes.
On numerours occasions. I dont know which is more taxing on the head...getting hurt in a freakish accident..or not getting hurt and then getting up and seeing what SHOULD have happened to you. Glass empty says the incident was bad luck and should never have been able to happen...glass full says well shit son!!!, go buy a lotto ticket cos you one lucky sonofabitch.
Yes. I know I have a very resistant body, capable of enduring (and inflicting :D) a lot of damage. It's both genetics and training, I guess. My body gives me a lot of confidence, which I've been told it kinda shows (a bit too much) in my mannerisms and attitude...
One of them was a few years ago. Two up on a suzuki katana, both pissed and off our trollies on some schizophrenics meds we'd "borrowed".
... we hit 160 kn in a built up town (50 km speed limit), in the rain and forgot to take a corner. Dropped the bike, hit the median barrier, cartwheeled over the small trees, flew merrily past the road signs and landed 50 m down the road on someones lawn. Couple stopped to help, (she was screaming) Got up, looked at each other, looked down at our extremtites expecting a good dose of road rash and cuts ..... nothing. Got back on said bike, (which was much worse for wear) and carried happily on with our evening.
Another one. A friend one night was fucking round with a shotgun , musing what would happen if someone got shot in the face at close range. Pointed it at my head, finger on trigger and tightening , to which I replied " That fucker better not be loaded" .. he replied" nah, I took the shells out yesterday". I was less than convinced and took it off him and broke it open...... loaded (his brother had been using it that afternoon and hadnt unloaded it before he hit the shower) . He went very very pale...very very quickly. I spent the next hour instructing him on his ancestry.
theres heaps of such stories, but most of them have some level of injury or another.
