Kylie Skin
I've changed my mind about buying Kylie Skin.
I've watched the reviews from people who are non-PR team, non-affiliated etc. But also who have no beef with Kylie, nothing against her or her brand and who remain an honest reviewing platform, loyalty to the viewers, the consumers- not the brands.
And it seems the products are just mediocre. Except the eye cream seems to be getting fairly positive reviews- but people compare it to the Tatcha eye cream which comes in the exact same packaging- but has a better formula, better skin ingredients.
I really liked the concept of having all your skin care from one brand, in all matching packaging like this, and then it all fits perfectly into the bag for travel. That is a *huge* draw for me personally, I travel a lot and skin care takes up so much space, it's such a clunky thing to pack. But this makes it so stream line and easy. I love them all matching, I love love the pink color packaging. It's so cute.
But unfortunately the actual ingredients just aren't that great. The price point is accurate for what it is though, which is average. But if you can afford above average, and you take your skin care really seriously, I just don't see the need to have basically drug store quality products.
I know people got super mad at her for her brush set being 300 dollars, and so perhaps she feared that backlash again and decided to do something affordable. But when it comes to skin care, people have gotten really boujee- we want what works, people will pay top dollar for good quality shit.
So I would of preferred that it be double the price, rather than 125 for the set, I would take a 300 dollar set, with *ultra rich* ingredients. I really would. And I think it would of been better received had she not made this mistake.
Edit: they're still selling out like hot cakes, there are probably plenty of people who really don't mind the average price. Perhaps two sets would of been a good idea. It seems brands lately are sort of dividing and conquering to please various categories of the market. For instance Jeffree Star is now releasing mini palettes, mini versions of his large palettes, so that people can still get the fun new palette and some of the shades, his very high quality formula, for an affordable price. I think that is very nice and kind, and smart move from a business aspect. I think Kylie was trying to target the same audience, the people who want the affordable option, and who will not buy the top dollar.
But it's just been well known Kylie established her brand as a top dollar brand from the very beginning, and now she seems to be lowering the bar. Which, a lot of people probably appreciate, and is allowing her to widen her market but- at the same time, the boujee bitches still want and expect boujee from Kylie, myself included. I would love to see an extra boujee line from her but I don't think we are going to get it- simply because it just doesn't go over well with "the masses"
You give them high quality, they get mad and call you pretentious. You give them something high price, people put it under a microscope and come at you with falling torches and pitch forks. But then you give them something affordable, and they get mad the ingredients aren't boujee, that the packaging isn't boujee like Tatcha. Etc. You just can't win with these people. That's why I figure, just make two.

I like the idea of making two.
She finally came out and clarified what was going on with the lipsticks
so it turns out they’re not contaminated or expired
nothing harmful about them
and she is sending out new perfected batch to anyone with issues full refund
i am going to see how the second batch is received and reviewed and then I will consider buying
i just like the colors... lol Jaclyn get your shit together
to me it seems like she left her more scientific responsibilities left unchecked, or left it in the care of someone like the labs. Regarding formulation.
And so because she hired someone to make it, and perfect it on the “science side” (because let’s be real beauty guru’s aren’t chemists, they’re not scientists)... she thought her bases would be covered.
And she was eager to get them all out as soon as possible... meaning, she should of done a test run... the month for the month of the launch.
It’s called a rough draft launch.
And then sent out PR, waited for the the reviews,
and then go into mass production.
It it would have saved her a lot of grief and money.
I think because she felt her scientists and lab personnel were taking care of things she could worry about the PR side of things and the presentation and the names (the fun stuff that’s she is honestly good at)
and she she got wrapped up in it, and totally forgot to like, come back down to earth and test test test her products and be patient (because she was exited being a first time brand owner and making her first launch, very personalized and close to her heart)
i think she she does have a place in this makeup industry creating products I think she has excellent ideas excellent craftsmanship and knows exactly what to create for the given market- she makes the colors *just* right etc.
however she isnt isn’t a chemist and I think this is where she is lacking in “know how” and this is crucial.
Tati Westbrook admits to hiring multiple chemist teams and multiple labs to create her products, from the packaging to the pills itself- providing in depth research about the chemical formulation.
I think with Jaclyn this was a bit rushed, because of her eagerness or who knows why.
But aside from the formula just having “consistency” issues, the actual product itself even when it’s “perfect” the way it wasn’t meant to be- isn’t *that* great in my opinion for the 18$ price tag.
I think they are are a bit of a scam. Unfortunately.
From the overwhelming talk and reviews I’ve seen on them, I’m honestly a little let down in seeing some opacity issues, they’re a bit patchy certain shades, difficult to work with and build up, and then overly buttery and glossy to the point that is gross, and not giving you any precision.
I prefer matte lips and these aren’t matte which a lot of people are disappointed by. She tried to make them seem like they’re luxury because they have mango butter in them
but in reality they’re no better than a drug store tinted chapstick, with a hint of vanilla fragrance in them.
For this reason, I will wait to see how the 2nd batch reviews go and if this issue hasn’t changed, I won’t be buying.
Theyre Just not impressing me, they’re kind of a mess for the price point I can’t atress that enough. You’re better off with other brands formula because it’s just flat out better.
I dont mind if she if she strikes out this round and I would love to see her formula improve, and will be just as eager and interested and excited for her next product launches to come, and I hope the quality from her brand starts hitting the mark that we all kind of expected from Jaclyn.
Nothinf personal against her at all, this is just about the makeup, the products themselves.

I love vanilla fragrance. Let me know how this formula turns out. :D
Jaclyn Hill Lipsticks Under A Microscope
I'm thinking about using the microscopes from the lab to analyze Jaclyn's lipsticks for bacteria and contaminates and running the formula through a processor to identify what the contaminates are (if they are what she says they are).
No one has one this yet. Only one person who is a chemist has come forward to speak about this from a "science major" perspective.
It would probably get a lot of views on youtube if it weren't for the algorithm lol
but I'm just genuinely curious what's in them
people have looked at them under a macro lens and they're calling that a microscope... but yeah obviously it's not anywhere near the magnification necessary to identify what the contaminates are or if there is bacterial/mold growth of any kind
I don't know how to determine if a formula is expired simply by looking at it's structure but I suppose there would be indications of "breaking down" as well as other obvious factors to look for like mold/bacteria etc? idk.
I just want to see if the fuzzy's are animal hair, human hair, or "glove fuzzes" or what the fuck those hairs are.... what the beads are... etc. if it's really "mango butter" or what. see what the moisture spots really are....
you feel me?
