I saw some Last Airbender but not every episode. It was decent. Visually this show stood out from all the other crap that was being played at the time.

The live action movie was garbage. Not too disappointed, just couldn't finish watching it. I never bothered with Korra, as binge watching other things took so much time.

It's still among the best things released on Nickalodeon to this day, and as a single continuous storyline in particular it's the top of it.

It's so bad it's good.

Seeing it in theaters wasn't because I expected IT to be good... I expected the audience to be good, and they did not disappoint me.

It's now a drinking with friends movie, as usually some sips of alcohol's what it takes to make others want to watch the failure as a failure instead of as a sacrilege versus their favorite thing.

Favorite character would have to be Azula. She was a product of her environment and was shamed for it causing her to be resentful towards her mother and further pushing her into the mold her father wanted. She's very awkward when put into situations where there is no clear end goal as seen in the beach party. She makes puns and has a great deadpan sense of humor and she's really just hnnng.

Did you check the Azula Psychology video I linked in here?

She's such a good character. Even how they represent her fights with Zuko are always a reflection of their current mental states. It's like debating, but with fire

I'm going to the minute I go on actual break

I've never seen the live action because I didn't want it to mar the series for me

Honestly it breaks so far from it in spite of being the same setting and characters that it felt untainted to me.

Fire benders can't even produce their own fire, it takes like 10 earth benders to move a single rock, and they say every single name wrong like it was on purpose while their personalities range from empty to plain incorrect. He even switched some races around because "Why not?", and the casting is so garbage that it even has someone from Twilight in it.

Maybe it being shitty in every way imaginable was the Shyamalan Twist? I'll spare the spoilers so that it can hurt you as if it were completely new, as it's a masterpiece in that regard.

I'm sorry to say, but I gave Legend of Korra a solid chance, I wanted to like it. I can sit here and list many many solid merrits for it, but what really hurt their show was how they thought they were going to be canceled at the end of seasons one and two. They end up changing villains every single season, but only really find their flow in ways that make it work in season three. They have WONDERFUL concepting, such as having Chi Blocking spread to the average populace in season one to oppose bender oppression, but then by season two they just FORGET ALL ABOUT IT

A lot of what makes Korra bad is the reduced impacts of the Ehasz's. The wife's the backbone of The Last Airbender's best stories and otherwise had an advisory role for lore consistency and immersion of the setting, and the husband was quite good in his own right even if not as great at it as she is.

The writers that stayed behind to keep writing were also egotards about people critiquing their work. They end up trying to destroy all the Ehasz's built as the story goes on and fans complain about how their decisions "Aren't as good as they were in The Last Airbender", pissing them off further. By season two they outright destroy her connection to the first series... BY FORCE

The show's also super guilty of "too many characters" syndrome, among a slew of other issues like poor character writing/concepting (save for Korra herself for concept anyway, she was a fun idea that they didn't know what the fuck to do with until season three). They even shit on the mysticism by turning the avatar into a fucked up spiritual yin/yang mess instead of the elemental spectrum that reflects actual Eastern culture more to it's core.

If you're going to watch Legend of Korra, go into it thinking it's not "The Last Airbender" and there's a chance you'll see redeeming qualities. I only really enjoyed it from seeing the evolution of the writing organically try to figure itself out when a lot of mistakes were made in ways that leave it far, far too late, and the concepts they came up with for their worldbuilding was still solid at many points of the story even if their use of them is usually lackluster (with the spirits shit in season two as the absolute worst).

Edit: Their combat scenes if you skip season two are also very solid.

 Ignore this.

Watch on LSD (it's pretty damn good)

The live action film was so bad it was terrible. I still want a refund.

...I tried this once for Korra in particular and I strongly disagree. Like I said, I really wanted to like it.

It's nice for compilations however.

The fighting scenes in Korra so far is far better then TLAS, but I really hope we get less of the teenage drama bullshit, god I hate that with a passion 🔥. In TLAS it was actually funny and not overdone.

I like Iroh and how calm and relaxed he is in comparison with Zuko. He is also completely confident in the outcome of life and he does not care at all about how others view him. He does what he has to when the time is right and not a moment sooner, despite all the social pressure that is thrown at him. He is having fun and enjoying himself regardless of the situation.

Momo would be my second favorite. Because while it is a bat lemur, he has the mind of a cat and even sounds like one, every time I heard him I imagined a cat and it was so cute.

During the series, I was honestly mostly looking forward to seeing how Iroh would deal with the situations and not so much about the overall story.

Topth would be my 3rd favorite because she is just badass awesome lol.

Cheery bye!

It gets worse my dude, both the combat and drama, until season three. Enjoy it while it lasts, it hits a dry spell eventually once the budget funds trickle away and the star writers completely disconnect from the project.

Some critics outright recommend skipping to it after a little fleshing out of season one (although I disagree, season two sucks but it's mild continuity... so toughing through it at least one time's something).

I like Iroh and how calm and relaxed he is in comparison with Zuko. He is also completely confident in the outcome of life and he does not care at all about how others view him.

Iroh cares how he's viewed, but he wants to be viewed as himself. Very classic Fire sign behavior.

He does what he has to when the time is right and not a moment sooner

He does make some mistakes, which actually to me makes him a more believable character.

Heating up his tea with bending even Zuko calls him on, and that's not all he's fumbled over or wasted time on. He however really comes into his own when he becomes a prisoner and rejoins his former group.

despite all the social pressure that is thrown at him. He is having fun and enjoying himself regardless of the situation.

He's jolly, but it covers a deep sorrow. He's wonderfully fleshed out.

He also learned with age that he gets more with honey than vinegar, much like Tea. Even his younger war general self was pretty jovial and enjoyed collecting things from other cultures despite being at war, even gaining a solid respect for Ba Sing Sai when it was able to keep him out (and the irony of him hiding in there later).

Where he couldn't get in there before by force (vinegar), he later could by being sweet and polite with the right people (honey). He's a battle philosopher essentially, seeing the two as one and the same.

Momo would be my second favorite. Because while it is a bat lemur, he has the mind of a cat and even sounds like one, every time I heard him I imagined a cat and it was so cute.

Overrated as a mascot, underrated as a character.

Topth would be my 3rd favorite because she is just badass awesome lol.

She's an easy favorite for people.

I actually have grown to have Katara become my favorite, but that keeps changing every time I ask myself this question. It's not because of the whole "Water Bending is so cool" and "Zomg Blood Bending" bullshit, she's actually a complicated character with very very dubious morals.

Sokka's a close second for being a very well thought out yet easily underrated character from lacking bending. He's super important to the story even if he's not throwing water around like his sister does, and he shows very stable character growth and consistent behaviors that make him feel very believable.

Even Zuko as "not a fire bending prodigy" used that lacking to become more of a weapon master, and that granted him passive gifts throughout the series (ranging from broadswords to fire knives, dual wielded even).
