Puts a dangerous amount of power in the mods hands where they can be manipulated by that power and targeted for it, blackmailed for it etc.

or they can blackmail others with it to assert their own private agendas

this is the end game issue I felt I kept running into in a lot of mod related rules and it’s why I’m more of an equal powers evenly distributed with checks and balances kind of person

mod actions should be governed by the people of the forum and other mods

with no one person holding enough power to be “the most powerful” or “on top”

I love how everyone ignores my perfect suggestion at making peace on this situation

Your right to erasure

The reason to request erasure might be that:

* it was unlawfully collected or used (in breach of the GDPR)
Only reason on this specific list that applies, and we can probably work around it.

There are also situations where the organisation has the right to use the information, and a request for deletion does not need to be followed up. Those are in cases where the organisation:

* is exercising the right of freedom of expression

Freedom of Expression?

who are you to tell meta what to do when this is his site? make your own site then you can bark out orders and dictate what should be 'worked around'. you're wayyyyy too personally invested to be a neutral or effective mod and you're really showing yourself right now lmao

I have an idea- what if we had "dox trials" where we determined if a dox was justified or not and if it was then the dox stays up (such as in the case of a retaliation or a pedophile actively molesting children) and if it was not then the dox is taken down? We could have a dox judge, dox jury, and doxecutor. During the trial we could take them down temporarily until a decision is made.

My grandiose delusions are better than yours.

You mean Luna's current senate idea for doxes that she just proposed after last night's shenanigans?

Also your idea feasibly means putting even more power into fewer people's hands.

During the trial we could take them down temporarily until a decision is made.

That at least resolves the time limit question I otherwise had from assuming the dox would have just been floating there while people are like "So... do we keep it?".

There is a hide button on this site for posts, so while I don't agree with your idea it's not impossible within the current code at least.

I didn't know Luna had a similar idea. I was thinking good at the helm as judge, the doxxer, the dozed, and a representative for both. Then a pool of selected unbiased sources. It'd go like a typical court trial. So my idea is different.

Since the topic was turned into a circus, I decided to do it myself. Originally I wanted to make a poll and this can still be done, but here is the bare minimum:
The first step to solving the problem is legality and as it turns out, if we want this forum to stay up then any personal information relating to an identifiable person on the forum, can be requested to be removed.
This is according to the GDPR and we have users, such as myself, that force the forum to be compliant to these laws.

Here is a topic on law.stackexchange that specifically target the forum posts issue: https://law.stackexchange.com/questions/28276/are-internet-forum-posts-considered-personal-data-under-gdpr
It is not 100% clear, which is why it will be done on request and I will limit it to the bare minimum to comply with the law.

The bare minimum rule must be like this: "Dox data must be removed if the doxed person requests it and if the specific dox data was not posted by themselves on the site.".
"Dox data" is any data that can be used to uniquely identify a real person. This "real person" is the "doxed person".
"Doxed person" is any individual that has been uniquely identified by some collection of identifiers and the dox data relates to them.

In addition, if doxing is used as a tool to commit a real crime(such as cyberstalking, stalking, harassment, threats, or extortion) and it was not removed on request, it is a possible liability (according to any law).
If the dox data was obtained illegally, it is illegal and must be removed (according to any law).

Any changes to the rule must comply with the law, or someone crazy like med/primal can sue. If you disagree and think that people can't use the law against SC, explain?
