I'm sorry but are you saying that Pokemon Go by Niantic is more successful than the Gamefreak Pokemon franchise? Financially, I'd agree with you if so over how it is built around a time wall to slow your progress, prompting the users to buy pokeballs using irl money.
For longevity's sake however for success I'd say it's actually kind of crazy how Gamefreak keeps basically reprinting the same game over and over with progressively lower quality storylines and a new coat of paint. They're even recycling those from the original 150 by giving them new skins, calling it regional ones.

We had shit like Jade Cocoon, Digimon, and Monster Rancher at the same time, as well as a bunch of other games that played similarly, but portability lent to far stronger marketability and their roster of 151 pokemon blew the rest out of the water.
I’ve literally spent $1 on pokeballs in Pokémon go and it was only because there was a wild Chansey next to me like 9 and a half years ago and it was one of the last things I was missing from gen 1. I’m sure they make more on raid passes and boxes.

Other than that my most played Pokemon game is Pokemon Stadium on the N64. The game was kinda limited. There was some adaptor to attack the Gameboy cartridge of some Pokemon game in order to beef up the ones in Stadium, but we still played with whatever's there.

The N64 titles were meant to add drama to gameboy fights, not meant to be their own independent platform. It's why the prizes they promised were towards the cartridges connected to your controller.
