i also feel guilt...
because i go to the local stores and i see the poor workers who arent even allowed to look at their cell phones while they get paid like 1/3rd what i do... and i dont even have to go slave for some loser manager at some dumb shop..... imagine having to live that life.... poor people... im lucky i was born with a decent IQ
Guilt? WTF. You should feel proud! Where is this guilt coming from? Slaps puppygirl's head. ;) There is a bell curve of achievement. Some are at the top of the curve and some at the bottom. Not everyone can be on top. Pride comes when you get to the top by your own merit, not some bullshit DEI charity policy.
Proud for what? Not everyone can be a software engineer, and the people who collect your rubbish and deliver you your Amazon shit have just as much importance, at the very least they should be given respect and paid enough to the point where food and housing isn't a worry.
so today is a huge day it turns out!!!! I got offered a job at the company im a SWE at!!! here is the transcript from what the CEO said:
Yeah. So puppygirl, um I am I'm glad to be here today to talk about the growth of the company and uh your part in that. Um so we've um we've had a lot of good growth. um we're you know adding 100ish 50 100 patients a month and uh at the same time we have plenty of engineering needs and I've heard great things about the work that you're doing from uh from Mr. Moughs here. Um so anyway, we've had some people who have been contractors like you and now is the time to to bring in all the people who are we want around for the the company to grow and grow and grow to be full-time employees. So, we'd like to offer you uh a full-time position um at a salary of 98,000 a year.
they also offered me stock options, 401k, health, etc
i start tomorrow
my life is crazy i did not expect any of this lol
i partially credit my like 5+ yeas working on this website for why i am now a successful software engineer.. this was the bigest project i ever worked on until this new job :)
Honestly I really liked it when it was run by you.
well good has saved me like 3-4k now hosting this for us
honestly i am not stable enough to keep this website running unless it made money
good was probly right to take over
it was my brother paying the bills so once he stopped the stability was gone even if i had wanted to undelete it
honestly i am not stable enough to keep this website running unless it made money
What do you mean by "not stable enough"? Financially, because "unless it made money"? But this whole thread is about your new job success. You're not sure how long this will last? What are your reservations?
well ive been at this job for 4 months so far and you are right that all signals indicate i will be with this company a long time
but i must maintain the hard truth that im probably kinda retarted and they probably dont understand just how dumb i am just yet and once they fully grasp it they might 2nd guess choosing to hire me
so i dont feel like im totally out of the woods yet... i do not yet feel my boss is fully aware of how dumb i am
so im saving up as much money as i can just in case they realize they hired an idiot and fire me
