i feel like.... i want to understand everything
i have never given up studying physics, the universe, new theories, old theories etc.. just in hopes that if i gather enough information, I may one day be able to put the pieces together and gain some insight as to how this universe works and why existance is
when i look at our capitalist system, i have forever studied supply and demand, finance, loans, debt, interest rates, stock prices, commoditie prices, futures markets, federal interest rates, etc to try to figure out this capitalist system and be able to take some control over my own finances
when i look at our history of war, and our politics, and the history and present of how humans organize themselves and eachother, i try to study energy, resources, innovation, geopolitics, and all the other factors i can think of that might give me some insight in hopes that maybe some day i will be able to understand and predict what nations will do in the future
so basicly what I'm saying is that i am just born to forever analyze the world and try to understand it... in this completely illogical goal of one day just understanding everything completely and having total control over my reality
and my question is.......... why when i look around, is not EVERYONE doing that? and if they are..... why doesnt it seem like it? why does everyone just seem to be okay with allowing themselves to be entertained and distracted?
my theory is that im this way because im adopted, but i wasnt adopted until i was 2 years old... so who knows what happened to me during that first 2 years but maybe it instilled into me a desire to figure out what is going on so i can have control
It would be quite the feat to try and psychoanalyze everyone like that. Most I think are content with trying to find the "life hacks" version to that: more concerned with survival and whatever equanimity they can find in this life, whatever shape that takes in the environment and culture they are in. Then you get whatever extra time left over to either pour into more of that, or have space to wonder more. Others are content to be trapped in their dopamine addictions.
No one is going to be able to understand everything themselves. You will know or try to learn whatever intersects with your motivation and needs at any given time, including boredom. It becomes part of that process when learning time and energy management to indulge in wonder. It is what drives innovation and productivity, but any given person has to contend with the challenges working out their balance.
On a surface level, everyone seems to only think and interact with the world in that sort of practical manner. Not many go right to philosophy or physics or other theory. However, long enough, you can bring anyone into that kind of conversation. Usually, it just means it takes a person like you to bring it up. So, not everyone has to, just the ones that do.
