Spatial said:Trump never crushed Canada. Yes or no Legga.Perhaps not. I admit it was hyperbolae.
I would say that he is harming Canada's economy through tariffs, which, if time permits and no reasonable agreement is reached, will seriously harm Canada. And the US has the upper hand insofar as the problem is isolated to US and Canada, but what the outcome is depends much on what cards other players play.
Canada has been doing it to the US for decades.
Canada has what is called "Supply Management" for US dairy. This means Canada will only take in a limited supply from the US. Supply Management is in place so Canadian dairy can sell more in the grand scheme in a less competitive market.
Canadian farmers have no problem selling to the US, but the US farmers have big issues when it comes to selling to Canada because of the supply management barrier. Basically a really expensive tariff. New Zealand is also bothered by Canada's supply management policy when it comes to not just dairy, but certain imports.
While the Canadian government will tax imported goods just the same, it matter less which one is sold, so this supply management policy bares the mark of a Canadian oligarchy, where a Canadian corporate interest is being guarded by government.
The context in which I said that was to point out the absurdity of rooting for the person who is trying to harm your own country, so the hyperbolae was added for comic effect.
Well. America is done getting played. I'm see the US national debt at 36 trillion and change. It seems to be ticking upward $3,000 every second.
You're worried about me not filling in your blanks when you were dismissive of my questions and data.
Technically I answered your questions and I'll show you in the following post.Is this your stance: ""Trump is not acting to further America's interests at the economic cost of other countries"? Yes or no Spatial.
Yes, but also no. The US will get into a trade war with any nation who doesn't improve the trade relations.
Like damn Legga. Say you found out you were getting jipped by someone you purchase goods from. Will you make it right or fucking keep letting them rip you off ?
Trump does have his interests, and the tariffs OBVIOUSLY are not designed to destroy other economies. Look how much cheaper they are.
IF however an economy wants to play hardball, that too is an option. On the bright side 50 of the 51 listed nations are interested in negotiating fair trade, and why ? The US most likely won't be incentivised to be so nice the next time the unpredictable Trump thinks it's time to, "increase" all fairness.
It's called.....
Art of the Deal is when business associates take you very seriously, and the nations of the globe are taking the US very seriously right now.
Even if everything you said about the tariffs were true, I don't see how you're connecting the dots with that statement. Connect the dots for me.
- Tariffs were announced for release on April 2nd.
- The world was expecting trump to impose tariffs at a much higher percentage that would disable trade with the US
- US Tariffs came out soft, alongside Trump's speech ( I watched it live and even I was in shock )
- Canada and Mexico were not listed
- 50 of the 51 nations are up to change up the numbers. Being higher already we can expect lower prices.
- I think Trump halted tariffs on Canada and Mexico twice. And it's still halted until further notice.
- Trump sees Canada's stance and how Canada even entertained the idea of pulling the plug on energy, which wouldn't be like.... an emp bomb going off in 7 states. Very ugly stuff.
- Trump does fear the Canadian conservatives and would rather deal with Canadian Liberals. Ontario is Progressive Conservative while Alberta is Conservative. Both provinces are energy power houses.
Fair trade. This means other nations can have cheaper US goods, as the tariffs imposed by their government won't spill onto their own people. Look at the list and you'll see how much more other nations pay for US goods and it's the fault of their own leaders and not the US.
The US is technically liberating the world of high cost, granted their get fair trade. No one wants higher tariffs.
freakin iPhones and Teslas and whatever else the US produces. NIKE and shit. AMD, Intel, Nvidia ASUS Mac. All computers and computer parts, going down in price for citizens of other nations. In China Buick is actually a luxury car I kid you not. And why ? Cause it always costed 67% more to buy over there, while some countries don't even have American cars.
Canadians will end up with more choice, and the Canadian government will bank on tax all the same. That is, if we negotiate and let the US in on fair trade. China for example decided to flex on the US and they are paying the price for it. All they had to do was lower their tariff and they would still be afloat instead of the mess they're in now.
This stuff all played out in real time before our eyes.
This video is meant to be time stamped at 1:17.
If the DNC decided to do this decades ago. There would be no outrage. Today the very same people are having a meltdown over it getting done.
The MSM is Trump's enemy, even in Canada the MSM is liberal, and they receive handouts by the liberal government. Mark Carney offered something like 1.6 billion to the MSM in Canada, and while MOST Canadians by a landslide dislike Trudeau, the Trudeau government, and Mark Carney, the MSM in Canada only go after the liberal governments political opponents.
The MSM will broadcast only what they want you to see, but not what the majority is saying. And we know what the majority is saying through alternative media and personal experiences with friends and family.
