We've tried to educate people, give them free treatment, even use government-sponsored heroin needles so people could kill themselves even more effectively!

It's harm reduction, it's meant to stop the transmission of diseases through said needles. It's on par with handing out free condoms, they're going to do it anyway so they might as well not be a hotbed of disease at the same time.

True, while in places where heroin is still prevalent like Canada its still a massive issue because they don't prosecute drug dealers. I should have mentioned that fentanyl is now replacing heroin in American cities like Philadelphia, Baltimore and Cleveland. Same issue, drug traffickers aren't arrested fast enough. No amount of harm reduction is going to kick their habit. If you keep feeding obese people shit food its not going to do anything for their well being. At that point you're enabling their unhealthy lifestyle rather than encouraging healthy change.

It's moreover how it's not fair that someone'd get diseases from a used needle and then spread said diseases to non-heroin users. 

It doesn't stop heroin use, but it does reduce the transmission of diseases. That's the harm being reduced, and in lieu of a real answer to help with said addiction this is at least minimizing it's impacts on society as a whole. 

The places offering clean needles also offer the resources they'd need to get clean if that's what they desire. If they don't want to fix their own addictions, then that's their choice (sorta), but as long as they keep coming in it gives the room to reinforce that getting better is possible through the same resources as the needles. 

Overall it's better that these places exist than not at all.

His death also annoys me cause he once made a pass at my GF (before we were together), and my GF was talking about him a few weeks ago all upbeat, then she went to his "Celebration of life" on the weekend, though it was for the kids which is another story. In short his death reunited some children, cause he was such a dick.  

We respectfully disliked one another, but If I were around I wouldn't have let him do it via combat. Probably got drunk and impulsively did it. Jackass.

This at least explains why you don't even know what caused it beyond the room for you to project your own inner world on top of it.
