usa is just so predictable and boring. there isn't enough chaos. each day is the same. the people are all self-absorbed, ego driven, cynical, and anxiety ridden, not to mention fat

This is certainly true...but possibly moreso depending on the waters you're swimming in, you know?  Although, when you say "chaos" you probably mean "novelty".  I'm sure you'd be more reluctant to sacrifice certain levels of safety and stability in the name of real "chaos" in certain cultures where the danger is certainly more likely.

id rather hang out with  people who are just living life and enjoying their time on the earth with their friends and family, and not constantly comparing themselves to others and scheming to get ahead at the sacrafice of relationships

It sounds like the people you were around were exhausting.  I can understand the need to get away from all that.

the cost of living is so much nicer in east asia. i have 50k saved which should last me a few years there, and longer if I can get a remote job

Yeah, it would depend on where you go, but your dollar might stretch a lot longer, if you remain fairly modest, I bet.  It sounds like a good time for you to do it, while young enough and to get away from that grind.  I hope you enjoy yourself!  But stay safe, choose wisely. :)

awww this is such an adorable thread.

btw i'd totally not ban tc if I was in charge, and maybe even let him stay mod provided he learn his place and his title would be janitor again not mod

i just quit my government job after 7 years and I'm moving to East Asia in a couple months so I do think I'd have some spare time in my hands

That would make it easier if you're in principle down for it, but the problem is that TC will pretend this thread doesn't exist and he's the one who can contact Good insofar as I know. So what would you need to take over, hypothetically? I.e., what does Good need to provide to you?

I have no idea what I'd need. I suppose server access so I can take a look at the current code. After I see the code I could decide if this website is worth working on, or just remaking from scratch

I doubt Good would just hand over authority though. Chances are he just lets the site rot until TC gets stabbed one day on the subway and then noone posts for a year, then he'd take it down

I wonder. Good is letting this place rot, and it has impacted activity. So I guess it comes down to whether he prioritises ego over the alternative, which is to have a co-developer for a website that he can brag about at Bulgarian pubs while sitting down sipping beer and talking about Russian politics. There's supposed to be nothing but upside to handing Luna the keys.

He did say that he would let the community decide, but I feel now that that was probably just lipservice. He also banned that animal or beast or whatever person against the communitys wishes but I think that one was personal, so I don't know. The vote here is quite clear, and not banning TC makes things even easier to decide upon. The only thing that is needed is to change the "moderator" title to "janitor" but I don't think TC will have anything against that, given how he's said that every job is of equal importance. He's famously said that a person flipping burgers should qualify for a tenured professor position in STEM research, because the life experiences gained from flipping burgers outweight the qualifications gained from 20 years of dedicated study and research in the field.

IMHO the decision itself is a no-brainer but egos and territorial disputes get in the way of otherwise stellar software projects.

You act like he'd be into the idea, rather than laugh in the face of your prior incompetence.

What advantages are there to it?

He's famously said that a person flipping burgers should qualify for a tenured professor position in STEM research, because the life experiences gained from flipping burgers outweight the qualifications gained from 20 years of dedicated study and research in the field.

Could you quote that?

lol I doubt he would be into the idea

and honestly i don't feel that strongly about wanting to do free work lol.

I'm not you TC. this dead website is all your life has amounted to. you are turning into a lolcow. "the poor chicago NEET who spent an entire life talking to himself on a dead forum". would make a great youtube video

what's most funny is with all this time you put in you could have become a programer and added your own updates, but your IQ is not sufficient to learn. I was 15 when I made SC. I wonder what you would be doing if it weren't for that

Well, that and the last time you tried making your own forum again it went pretty poorly.

You seem to be the one more fixated with the place than I am, to me this is just a low pressure hobby rather than a profession.

I mean I could link the thread with Chapo, but I guess it would be beside the point unless you disagree with the janitor title thing. At any rate, since you have a major conflict of interest in Luna getting the keys, of course you would disagree, since you stand to lose so much. It's a bit petty, given how Luna even made concessions not to ban you. Why don't you be a man and make some concessions yourself?

Like, for example, you shouldn't even need to ask what the upsides to giving Luna the keys are. Aren't those upsides plastered all over this topic and evidenced by the vote results?
