If you were a new member who is impressionable, atomized, and dejected by online communities, you would more than likely find solace here where you can type away about your worries of every day life. What keeps them locked in this prison? Engaging topics, everyday posting, like the lynch random number game. But it would be better if it were more engaging. Login rewards. Who cares what it is, consistency is what matters.

The post counter is essentially an XP bar, the more time you spend and participate, the more you want to engage. If the site is a game, treat it as one. Kiwifarms 'gameifies' its platform in its own way unique to the purpose of the site. There is no connection to the goal or image of what SC is. At this point it's just a close knit community of unwell people. What exactly was SC as an idea? Is it what it is now?

I'm not sure I'm up for quoting everything in this thread, so this will probably lend to Jada (why this name now, btw?)/Legga/whomever's indictment of the quality of my posts (which, frankly, aren't really the matter at hand nor worth addressing, partly on grounds of sounding "defensive", but also I don't wholly disagree with, yet for other reasons maybe).  Specifically, it's that it seems weird to implicate me in the manner alleged.  TC's pointed out several times that whatever decline or "mindlessness" pervasive in the quality of SC's posting predates myself, and may or may not be a symptom of something else entirely.  So why the allegations?

First of all, it's strange to think so highly -- and,  simultaneously, lowly -- of me that I have whatever influence they think I have on anybody here, is strange.  Mysterious, frankly.  And even to imagine that such influence matters.  I'm really not sure how to engage with that, because it's far outside my realm of belief that I'd need to see some real proof of that.  Not just circumstantial, either.

Also, Jada has already stated either here or other posts that they had a motivation to create drama on this site, for whatever reasons.  I'm not sure why they would be trying to foment such here, but perhaps in whatever embers that sputter in the hearth of this place, it is an effort for activity.

For the moment, it's the only reason I can see why to drag me into these implications for seemingly otherwise-inscrutable reasons.

I'm not really interested in being petty or dismissive about it.  I'm genuinely curious as to why.  Please don't mistake my responses for defensiveness, because it seems uncharitable in any discussion to have someone be labeled as thus, especially when the opinions leveled against them seem ...unfair, confusing, etc.  It seems like entrapment, to hedge out differences of opinion, to preclude discussion.

I'm not sure endorsing the "Discordifying" or game-ifying of SC is in the spirit of the site, either.  What is happening seems pretty organic, to me.  I already have a tendency to overanalyze, but I really don't want to fall into that trap here.  Suffice to say, it's more the medium than it is the spirit of the place that might be hurting it more, yet I don't think changing its style is the answer either, to cater to the other forms of social media.  Yet, who knows?

If your defense is that someone made mindless posts before you did, you're still liable. Since you did what I asked you not to do as a condition for me to elaborate, case closed. I don't want to 'force' feedback on those who clearly dont want it. You do make decent posts when you actually put your mind to it, so no need for me to kick a dead horse.

I tend to agree with BT that gamifying wont necessarily invite people we'd like to see here.

The name of the forum is what turns people off now. Most of us came here as very young adults going through a phase. Now it's like a LEGO forum filled with 50 year old dudes talking about scat porn.

No teenager who's going through an angst socio phase wants to hang around with us any longer. Just change the name ffs.

Seems like him trying to redirect blame if you ask me. Perhaps he feels responsible for it and is trying to pin it on you?
