I can use what I.know in cooking and become the beast chef in the whole world. However, I still will feel lonely in wanting to pursue things in depth.

Is there no depth to cooking?

The philosopher thing doesnt quite work insofar as you still need to learn howbto do surgery. Howvlever, if a philosopher learned how to do surgeries better than amtone in a week, then I'd have no issues letting the philosopher do surgeries.

So if it took the philosopher two weeks, or he was only the fifth best, you wouldn't do it?

I feel like we've exhausted this already. Thank you for listening to my rant.

As I said back on page six, if you feel like ending the discussion that's fine.

No, not in the same way there's depth to meaning of life. Except if you belidve in Zen, exploring archery or whatever for Archery's sake, and losing yourself in it. Have you ever read vagabond? That's a story about zen swordsmanship. You can 'feel' the charactet evolve from an angry egotistical character wanting to prove himself to a true zen master.

So maybe. I don't quite have the passion for cooking, though I translate Physics into everyday life much like a zen master would. I do believe I could become a better chef than anyone if I wanted to. But it's moreso for the enjoyment of it. I will take a cooking class next week but I wonder how long it will take until I have nothing to learn again.

Fifth best? I would love to be the last one, but I never am, am I?

Isn't cooking a part of life, and thereby connected to it's meaning?

In the sense of "life is suffering", that approach works for alleviating one from it for as long as it lasts.

I haven't, is it worth reading?

Sure  but so is everything. I like the depth in Physics.

Yes, vagabond is worth reading, its one of the best manga out there, but I need to warn you that it doesnt finish. It's both an exciting story and also an introduction to zen buddhism.
