Questionable territory

What the fuck is going on with Victoria's secret? It's sort of in and sort of not.

And are we saying "fuck it" to Abercrombie, Aerie, Hollister? They're dead set on targeting gen-z but then they're not doing it right lol. I feel like gen-z doesn't care about these stores what so ever and they're all about to go underwater.

Fast fashion is becoming a no. Still some good finds here and there, but fashion nova and things like that are just sending me over the edge lately. Dead in the water

LA girl street wear aka expensive tennis shoes, yoga pants or biker shorts, and some sort of baseball cap

Diptyque candles- overdone or do we still love them?

Nest candles

Small prada shoulder bags with crescent moon shape zip

Utility style purses

Channel bags

"bucket" carry all's, example- louis vuitton, or anything in that shape

Bags with text on them, like saying "prada" for example, or large or even small logo's

Pumps, including red bottoms from LB

Influencer owned brands

Black jeans

Hoodies

Headbands of any sort

scarves

Puffy short dresses, puffy sleeves

Pirate shirts and flouncy sleeves

Bright bold darker shade hot pink, especially in lipstick

mini skirts

bodycon dresses

ripped jeans

What's still in?

Skims

What's to come in the future?

I don't know what's coming to replace all these trends *exactly* but I know these are all on their way out to the clearance section. Gen-z is coming at us with hurricane like force, from all over the world, and bringing a fresh take on fashion that no one has really seen before, it's very unpredictable but does seem to pull inspiration in a very specific way from vintage things from pretty much any era.

Subtle Vintage inspired pieces, coupled with a bit of minimalism of the 21st century. Anything from, victorian era to things that were popular in the 60's. 60's-70's influence of mod is back in, in terms of shape and style, but in a very minimal way and a lot more neutral darker tones, and not garish or intensely warm or bright. It's like, 70's influence but, make it 2023. Hard to explain it any other way. Like someone dialed it down and, brought a futuristic minimal element to it, almost 'space-station' chic- but in a neo vintage way. Couple that with, old money classic-ness. It's a new era, really.

P.S: In terms of sunglasses, I'm really confused in terms of what's 'in' right now and in the future. But everything seems to be out in terms of frames almost entirely. It's all old news.

Future topics to cover:

UK and England style is a complete beast of its own which I will have to comment on later, as well as J and K Style's latest revolutions.

Commentary on Paris, Milan, and New York fashion week, including street style.

Grammy, Oscar, and formal fashion

Prom fashion

Runway: broken down into Cruise, ready to wear, and shows by season, as well as haute couture

Changes to makeup, hair, nail

Body, shower, and skin care (bath and body)

additions to the questionable territory list:

SKII essence

Briogeo hair

Olaplex hair i like olaplex system but it is really expensive, and i think someone said it has bad chemicals in it or something unethical i don't remember, but i heard a rumor thats all.

Truly body products (they posted actual full vaginas on their actual instagram yes, to market their products)

Louis Vuitton

Kylie Cosmetics (sadly, after the change in ownership it hasn't been the same since)

Morphe (one of my fave products right now is their lip gloss, they're so held bent on making these 32 pan eyeshadow palettes that are honestly just starting haunt and terrify everyone, they're old news, stop it get some help)

Drybar products

Miracle 10 / It's a 10

Bedhead

Bumble

Burts Bees

Shea Moisture

Kim Kardashians skin care line

Alicia keys skin care line

JLO skin care (iguess these last three fall under the territory of celebrity brands, but, you get the picture, no one wants to buy an over priced trash can kim! what are you doing lol but then there are still stans out there who bought all of it. i was enticed by kims body line and thought that was an interesting direction but, maybe it didn't do the numbers she wanted) influencer brands in general are all backing off or closing down entirely, even merchandise. don't forget all the influencer perfumes and eyeshadows... lmao, we were fooled, we were so fooled by kims perfume line i thought everyone was going to desperately want to get their hands on it in like ten years and its value would be 10x the price but nope, no one gives a shit. and that's the case for most things, so i don't play that game anymore.

Apparently even Charlotte tilburry and pat magrath is on the chopping block which surprised me, i think it's just due to their cost people are not having it right now with the inflation of everything else, i don't know i don't fully understand why these ones are getting slack but, they are.

remember body oils in general, fenty, huda, etc

glittery or tacky face primers

rediculously marketed setting sprays that don't really do shit (overplaying it, it's just setting spray chill out, give us good formulas or get out)

I'm glad I didn't buy any of these. In my opinion if you want to buy a trend bag, I have resources that create knock offs for a significantly cheaper price and it suffices without being a huge mistake when it's 'fad' is over in 2 months.

i have a faux prada and chanel bag that i impulse bought tbh, and i get compliments on them all the time still, even though in the fashion world i feel like the 'hot moment' for those bags is closing, the cost was so feasible, you wouldn't bat an eyelash at it like, you can afford some margin for impulse buys when it's not a $6,000 bag, lol.

Some are just collectors, I personally am not. I'm just very happy with the fact I didn't waste my money on any of these trends, though I myself was into them in their hayday. Go faux, you won't regret it.

I got compliments on my faux hermes bags still to this day, and some ask what it is. I'm like, it's the birkin but, you know, not the real one. And they're like ohhhhh that's why I like it so much.

To be honest in terms of bags, they're fun and all, but I want that fun to be affordable, because I'll be into it for 2 months and then I'm more or less over it after that.

Another way to counter this 'trend hopping' disaster people are on, is to instead of being a collector, perhaps consider buying staple bags that are sort of in a capsule or all, can go with your personal tastes over and over again for the next year. Buy faux so that when you're over the one(s) you bought, you don't feel bad about changing it up. It's, painless. You can margin for that cost far more easily, it's a guilt free way to do it. And that way it's very controlled, you're not bewildered about which bags you need to buy, which bags you want, you have your capsule that you're happy with for the year and don't need to get confused and lost in abyss of impulse buys and i want-itis you can get suckered into by fake social media hype.

If I do buy an actual luxury bag, it's one that has a lot of meaning to me, and I know will be a timeless piece in my collection I'll always look to fondly, it's usually very personal as to why I bought it, and so it's because it resonates with me, who I am, etc, more so than, trying to adhere to a trend.

This habit of buying bags that will work for a whole year actually started for me because of school, in high school and college days it was just how I did things. I knew, well I'll need a bag for volleyball practice, I'll need a bag for school, I'll need at least one bag for going out maybe two different sizes. So it just was like a strategy out of practical reasons, being a freshie or when I lived in Mexico, buying a nice pair of shoes or, even a jar of nail polish was a big deal for me and a lot of commitment. So that's where this 'annual budget' method of like, "make it last a whole year" and you like it enough to function and not be fucking ugly for a whole year every goddamn day lugging it around, so thats where this sort of 'timeless' buying came from.

As I got older I could afford margin for seasonal buying as well, but I keep it very minimal if I absolutely must. I try not to get suckered into a seasonal bag, but if I do buy one per season, I try to make sure they are something that I can realistically love and use for the rest of the year, and adhere with my style or that 'capsule' method we were talking about.

This is how I keep my head on straight in a sea of wonderous designer everything, everything is beautiful, but you don't need to "have" it all to appreciate it's beauty.

Right now, I have seven bags, and then I have lots of bags that are juicy couture, which I bought because I have a juicy couture collection on-going. My dream is to open a 'juicy couture' resale store, not as a main source of income but just because I want to lol. Sort of a 'juicy meuseum' or a juicy wonderland, of all the rarities and cutest, most coveted items. Why? I don't know sis, I'm just weird like that.

So whenever I find things I have a storage facility, air conditioned, and I put everything for my shop in there. I also have another resale shop that operates online right now, for furniture, decor, and clothes mainly. But one day it may evolve into something more, I just had the opportunity so I started and then it just sort of snowballed and I really enjoy it, it's really fun.

So, this is where my interest lies in, all this design, makeup, furniture, jewelry, bags and why I pay so much attention to analyzing what's going on.

i really dont know whats happening, no defined answer:

whats most popular right now in terms of mascara i think its a personal preference thing i havent found anything im impressed with like wow everyone needs to have this. its mascara. i dont know. people buy into a lot of the hype whenever a new one is released. but its always a flash in the pan and onto the next. personally for me, if its hard to take off then i hate it and i just prefer something light and non clumping that obviously makes them stand up without piecing together. whispy and light not too heavy or bold. but everyone has their own personal thing going on here... and like i said, painless to wipe off with some micellar water really quick. without pulling causing redness dryness or pulling lashes out and non-cloopy so im not annoyed all day. i dont want to feel it there.

topics to cover in the future:

i didnt cover any indie brands like odens eye or you know that brand that makes the food shaped palettes, things like that. so i need to go over those at some point.

skin care isle i didnt go into too much depth as this is 'esthetician' territory but we can get into this too

my personal favorite things and why :)
