1. Step: recruit recruiters

Who would commit to advertise SC aggressively/continuously over an agreed upon period of time? This work includes researching possible recruitment pools, internet sites, recruitment methods etc or making interesting posts in other communities etc. There can be many different methods of recruitment people could come up with. We need people to commit to it officially and to do some conscious effort like every day, or per week one hour or something like this. And we also need to agree upon a period of time for recruiting. 

How about an incentive for recruitment? 

Bring someone in, we all make a circle and say nice things about them. Show the newcomers that this is a place of love, and compassion. 

In all seriousness though, we need ground rules on what direction the forum wants to take for censorship. I can engage myself to be reasonable with new people up until a certain age. But we can also play with them. I'll just lessen the p&n words spam

A lot of the problem is people being like "We need new people, do it for me". 😏

I volunteer to recruit, but it won't necessarily be "aggressive." I'll do what I can when I can.

The primary elements to advertising are knowing 1) what are you selling and 2) who is your audience.

1) What are we advertising? Do we need all recruiters to be on the same page? Are we highlighting key points and if so what are they. There was some talk in the other thread about pivoting to a "mental health/ mental illness" forum. Imo the real core of SC is the principles of free speech. Is there a slogan recruiters should/ could use when advertising. When I put up those QR codes I wasn't sure how to describe SC in so few words so I went with "Alt community" which isn't exactly untrue, but also isn't a perfect description.

2) who is our audience? What types of people do we want to draw here? Clearly we won't be advertising on the reddit front pags. There is also a general consensus that seeking out "sociopaths" or wannabe sociopaths is no longer the way to go (ya know, since sociopathy isn't as cool/ attention-grabby as it was in the 00's)

Turncoat had the great idea about needing bait and I agree. Once we know these two things^ I think that will give us a foundation to brainstorm bait rather than shooting in the dark (although fr putting a member on dr phil would be a top teir way to go)

Something has to lure people here with the mindset of expecting assholes, as that's why this name worked back in the day; people felt weak if they couldn't take an insult. There is an audience for trolls and assholes, but in a sea of snowflakes where is it?

Depends on the crowd, it's a complicated area. On one hand if you censor that stuff we lose that much more of the freedom of speech angle and the slippery slope will continue towards other areas the 'cleaner' userbase prefers until it's entirely sterilized. 

As Xadem has commented on in another topic, it has moreso at this point become the words to say because people hate it, the symbol speech appropriated to "How dare they" at those who'd try to enforce what people can and can't talk about. If something else was the demonized subject, like restricting or banning people's ability to say the N-word in a public space, or people being allowed to speak out against trans and gay culture, then that would become the new subject bait in it's place. 

If you look at who is usually making the smelliest pedo stink on this forum, it tends to be the people who claim to be against it spamming how much they hate it in multiple topics about unrelated things while using it as a justification for near-baseless witch hunting. When no pedos are otherwise being spotlit they go on about how anyone not in their little witch hunt camp must themselves be closet pedos if not at least pedo-adjecent. 

If you really want to cleanse the 'pedo shit', then you have to also shut down the people who can't stop complaining about it. They end up doing more damage for the stability of the place than the supposed pedos themselves, and many once their guilt-free target is gone leave following that themselves. 

Often someone would talk about completely normal shit just to be ad hom-ed over the accusation on repeat, forcing that to be the sole subject talked about. 

I otherwise agree that your idea for a topic consolidation function would be helpful for when Delora and Turquie are making like 5+ topics in rapid succession to talk about one thing as part of a racing thoughts issue. There's also the "Bump" question, and while we're at posting in succession after themselves, will those continue to not be seen as spam? 

Somehow the place needs to market towards Schadenfreude and Conflict, but I'm at a loss for what that'd be right now. If the bait itself is otherwise good enough the new culture will overpower the problem, as it did in the past when we were linked to a blog. 

Make it a free speech/fight club forum. No rules, anything goes. Don't make it a whiny mental health forum. lol no more self-diagnosed babies martyring about how hard life is/has been 

Now, for the rules lol: no CP or pro pedo talk, no spam, one consolidated thread for attn whore spammers

I think pedo talk is not a slippery slope, its a special category. And i do mean positive and negative pedo talk.

I dont get the "how dare they" thing, I don't feel it. i can understand it, but i dont feel it and i think its stupid.

If there is no pedo stuff, the people who complain, won't complain. and when they do, their posts will also be deleted, if they are pro-pedo.
If this does not work, we might have to move all pedo-talk to a spam category or delete it. But we can test it first. I can see how we might need to do both. But only when its excessive and makes the forum look bad. Literary for PR only.

But if we decide to go this way, we can discuss it in even more detail.
