That is so cool that you remember all that Canary.  BZ Also had a couple other features

- Can see in real time when someone is typing a response to a post

- Theads moves to the top of the list in real time

- Green light next to threads if someone responded to YOUR post

- Senate / Democracy system with the ability to senators to introduce "bills" to propose rule changes and appoint mods

- Reputation system

- Chat system was a lot easier imo

- Page load speed was faster than here

- The list of online users only showed TRULY online users-- where this website shows people who are offline too which is weird to me

- No stickies because I did not believe in empowering mods

-  Log of moderator actions for transparency

- The ability for any user to create their own forum, customize its look with CSS, set it as invite-only etc

I still have BZ but it costs over 100 dollars per month to host. I am too poor for that right now so maybe someday when I have more money... also the code is a little too complicated for me as a ton of it was written by Michael and he refuses to work on it anymore

I am building a new forum though for my website I am building which will track the Us Natural gas market. I'm going to focus that site on being about simplicty, speed, and low server costs lol

Threads here also move to the top of the list in real time. I only disabled this temporary last week, but its been since the start. I should enable it again today or tomorrow.

Chat system was simpler, otherwise the same

Page load was WAY WAY WAY WAY slower. I fucking hate that so much I didnt even visit the site on some days because it took too long.

I dont really care about the rest, but i had to correct your speed claim, as thats absurd.

Cheery bye!

Seals is something I'm wiling to tryout for at some point, since any branch can try out and switch. My main goal is Green Berets or Rangers.

It does, and sure perhaps mine aren't as refined but I know I have the ability to become better, I want to do better.

My website was huge. It cost 100 a month to host. Your website cost  100 a year. It is much simpler and should be faster. I also doubt my site took 5 seconds to load. See below photo. 4.82 seconds.

Compare that to a nabble forum loading in 1/3rd of a second

I will just say that when I hit refresh on this website I feel myself waiting for longer than I am used to typically when I surf the internet.

Your website would take over 10 seconds to load often. I counted them because I was frustrated. I assume it is because of your javascript files, but I never really checked why. What slows down a website the most usually is multiple assets that load one by one and the page waits them. The start of the request is the biggest slowdown. Here all avatars are lazyloaded now so they load after the page has loaded. Avatars would be the greatest issue here.

Your website being huge makes no sense, as it showed the same information as this website. It could make sense if your DB was not well optimized, because you ran multiple forums, but you even paid way more. If I pay the same amount of money, this website will probably load in 1 second. What slows him down the most is the DB speed. It used to be even slower until the sticky update when I greatly optimized the DB.

I may add an interesting optimization now that you mention this. It might even make it load in a second. Yes this will be an interesting experiment

Nabble definitely pays more money than I do for their DBs. The DB is extremely slow when I access it from my own computer as well, I made the DB optimization with the stickes update because I couldnt even debug my website, it was too slow lol.

It looks like you're trying to recreate Autoadmit.

SC fundamentally is a culture, not the back-end features of a website.

Beyond having a functional chat and threads, the front end doesn't matter that much either.
