Well before I got to lunas sc. it was a massive piece of shit with almost no purpose at all. Well no actually I was baited there by 3xp made my 1st post maybe days after his grandfather died. But honestly before that the place was irrelevant and nothing worthwhile other than watching 3xp get to that point would have been worth noting. As far as I can tell. Although admittedly I never met UKAN or therealsocio. I made the place exponentially better and then it collapsed without me which honestly seemed impossible. I do enjoy goods version, and in its own merit; I have made this place very very very legit. I prefer the current version to sc2. However I dislike that cawk is banned very passionately. Jim may have been banned in sc2, but that just made it that much better. Cawk isn’t really.
Luna's SC is more refined in some areas. Like the green light that would appear on a thread whenever someone responded to our posts.

For a short while Luna's SC had a functional search engine, then it vanished. I'm under the impression Good created it.
The search engine in this SC is a pain in the ass to use, and I can probably count on 1 hand how many times I used it successfully, plus I know how to use it I think.
Nabble has a kick ass search engine, and the ability to permalink posts with little effort. The rest is basic as it should be, though it lacks a chatlog.
Michael Prey and Luna Prey are very unusual and mysterious people. Not the slightest clue of who they really are. A wide age gap and tied at the hip foster siblings. Everyone knew Michael wasn't playing and no one messed with him in the slightest.
Luna has gotten pretty scarry over time, it's difficult to recall what set her off once or twice a year. She had a tendency to mod people she hated, probably as a coping mechanism, TK for one, TC is another example, as they clashed quite a bit before Luna turned TC into her bitch. Eventually Luna's bitch would bite her, which we might talk about here. ( TC tried to Dox Luna, and now the Catfish is getting destroyed at Kiwifarms. What a thing to do to one's own comrade. In turn we'll never know who Luna is. )
Good's SC is built on a less sentimental foundation. It's more of a containment field to house the shards of Luna's self destruction, which are the minds she used to cater to. He did a fine job in my opinion. SC also grew on Good after awhile of him running the site.
Luna's SC is older and had a different cast on the most part. Blank was there, yet she still feels kinda new considering she wasn't around maybe 8 years ago to witness the OG antics.
Today very few OG's remain. And I mean from the Nabble era, where we expected the end of the SW forum, to the creation of SC by Luna and Michael.
Luna's forum allowed the members to stream youtube videos live next to the Chatlog which is a nice touch.
The community started collaborating and taking turns sharing what they wanted, while if i recall correctly, linking videos to posts were as simple as adding the link to a post, and the video would unfold.
Luna's SC works with spell check. For me that's a good one cause I'm not good at spelling certain words, and if I'm not on Android I have to use Google search to get words I can't write on a PC. These 2 last paragraphs give Luna's SC an edge, plus the notification light I mentioned.
Technically Luna's forum is more robust, while Good's forum, has far more, well, content. I think it's been proven to SC members that more bells and whistles isn't what makes a forum great.
That is so cool that you remember all that Canary. BZ Also had a couple other features
- Can see in real time when someone is typing a response to a post
- Theads moves to the top of the list in real time
- Green light next to threads if someone responded to YOUR post
- Senate / Democracy system with the ability to senators to introduce "bills" to propose rule changes and appoint mods
- Reputation system
- Chat system was a lot easier imo
- Page load speed was faster than here
- The list of online users only showed TRULY online users-- where this website shows people who are offline too which is weird to me
- No stickies because I did not believe in empowering mods
- Log of moderator actions for transparency
- The ability for any user to create their own forum, customize its look with CSS, set it as invite-only etc
I still have BZ but it costs over 100 dollars per month to host. I am too poor for that right now so maybe someday when I have more money... also the code is a little too complicated for me as a ton of it was written by Michael and he refuses to work on it anymore
I am building a new forum though for my website I am building which will track the Us Natural gas market. I'm going to focus that site on being about simplicty, speed, and low server costs lol
If you are not failing you are not trying, and BZ was defintely a big fail but I think it only failed because I am too poor to market it properly, but that's okay. I am lucky to have learned so much from it and lucky that you guys encouraged me by using my softare all those years. You helped me become who I am and I like who I am lol so thanks <3
