oh and I'll add that it is more about merging the torment with the unconditional love than dissociating from the torment completely like the goal is not to ignore or distance yourself from the torment but it is to allow it to be there while remaining in unconditional love vibes
So your goal is to forcibly combine two extremes, rather than seeking said middle ground on it's own?
not forcibly, from my understanding we are supposed to naturally be doing this how else are you supposed to integrate your soul back together?
By finding the midground through moderation?
Taking one extreme in place of the other strikes me as Black & White or Feast/Famine thinking, and falls into the pursuit of perfection struggles a lot find themselves trapped in.
even all of the western therapies teach to heal disorders like multiple personality disorder with unconditional love and gentleness and compassion because otherwise those other parts are not going to agree to integrate
Ideas like Radical Empathy and all that isn't so much Therapy as much as Faith.
I personally follow practices of Harm Reduction and Self-Conditioning, both with the aim of reducing problem patterns without it having to be about faith at all.
