Astrology

I met a guy on the internet who is very good at astrology. When I say this I do not really know if I believe fully in it. When I say that he is very good at it I mean that he is not just an esoteric person, a scammer etc, but has studied it in legitimate ways for 20 years etc. Recently I consulted him with a very bad health problem and he told me after some days when he made his calculations almost exactly why and when it started and when it will get better. He was completly and accurately right about when it started which was not obvious and this month it became much better (it is exactly when he said it would). It could still be placebo of course, but I was quite sceptic and also forgot a bit about his consultation which was a few months ago. I also did not do what he adviced me to do (wear a specific gemstone to help with bad planetary influence).

This made me more curious and I am planning to consult him in general. Lets see what I get. Do you believe in astrology? The guy seems to be using mainly the hindu/vedic and chinese system.

I follow Astrology, but neutered of the star magic bullshit. To me, it is a Human Calendar that shows growth patterns similarly to crop rotations, and the Sun/Moon/Ascendant (+houses)/Lilith are the only parts worth paying attention to.

I have spent way too much time treating Astrology like a trivia game for shows like Hot Ones, watching an interview and then from the clues try to guess their signs. Back when Crow and I were still a thing she tended to be good at guessing Sun signs while I was good at Moon signs, which made for a fun back-and-forth over behaviors and details to funnel down what the person shows tendencies of. Even when wrong we at least tended to get the elements correct.

It's a very fun hobby that adds a little bit of extra spice to people stuff.

I'm super rusty at it now, but I could go over some of my older notes sometime maybe over themes and patterns. I took a lot of them when I was manic, which lent to the learning curve that locked into it becoming a hobby, once I noticed both Pisces and Scorpio eye shape. I followed that up with research on things like seasonal birth trends in disorders, seasonal trends for how people behave, and tried to figure how yearly patterns and seasonal conditions could affect the early stages of a child.

This sort of thing has had me become curious how a child might behave if born in space, on another planet, or within abnormally controlled conditions otherwise.

I specifically tried to avoid pre-existing guides to see what I could find from studying clusters of a sign for compiling my own findings before seeing what others came around to. Astrotheme and Astrocharts have both been helpful for sorting people into interview groupings, and if there was no preset data then CafeAstrology allowed inputting the date yourself. Youtube has been a very helpful resource for looking up interviews, while the above sign-seeking sites tend to have a biography of the person. Many have also written books which can further lend to the seeking effort.

Watching shows like Love Island or The Circle with Astrology at the wheel also makes for interesting expressions of themes. I recommend taking up the Astrology game in general over how it can slowly train the eye to look for patterns, which in general works as good cross training for cold reading, motivation gauging, and microexpressions.

My goal for sign guessing tends to be over attempting to sort it into element, Cardinal vs Mutable vs Fixed themes, and seasonal theme-range, and through observing the weaknesses typical of each sign you can attempt to refine it into an answer.

I seem to, but that's with two cusps and the most room to apply bias to my own judgement.

I feel like applying it to myself beyond as an example of trend occurrences lends to self-fulfilling prophecy more than observing it out of others. That being said my Sun/Moon are directly cusping opposites so I'm showing pretty odd behaviors across the gradient.

I've since long wondered how powerful is the effect of self-fulfilling predictions. People gravitating to astrology tend to enjoy identifying with their sign so much that it becomes blurry.

You had an astrology tutorial thread once, no? Like an introduction to it, in your definition

It's why I feel like if I am self-referencing for it that, at best, I could be a comparative anecdote for a larger example of behaviors of trends within my cluster.

For me it's more about other people, that's the fun part. My knowledge does not change their behavior unless I am talking about it directly to them.

I probably had some giant rant at some point, but I could probably streamline it a bit more now that I've had more time to sit on it.
