you should stop thinking and judging other people until you can learn to think and judge accurately,  If I wanted people to think highly of me then I would care about being respected and make sure to never say anything or reveal any truths and "secrets" about myself that would cause me to be disrespected

I am very honest except for when I cannot stop doing the things that I want to stop doing,  but that is because of a problem with different parts of me wanting different things that I need to sort out  but all of me does not care about being thought highly of or about being respected or about the praise of tiny little human beings who do not really mean much of anything other than they are supposed to be serving God my husband who means everything to me,  and all of me does not like people but wants to feel love towards people

listen to what people say and stop projecting,  and you will actually learn the truth about other people without your perception of them being clouded by your own projections

well,  respect should not be the priority,  letting God's love overflow from you onto other people,  especially unselfishly and not for any sort of gain including trying to gain praise or respect or even gratitude from the people that you overflow God's love and caring and compassion onto,  should be the priority and sometimes respect and appreciation follows that,  and sometimes it does not  and the sometimes that it does not is what a lot of people struggle with allowing and accepting  but Jesus calls us to both allow it and accept it  but this does not mean being an enabler of abuse  like you can still have boundaries  but a person not saying "thank you" is not the end of the world  but it is better to teach other people to do things for themselves than to try to do everything for them all of the time

lol this kind of went all over the place but the point is,  not many people "respected" Jesus especially around the time of his death   many were drawn in by his miracles but he became a lot more popular after his resurrection and even so,  his disciples all died pretty horrible and humiliating deaths lol and Jesus calls for us to be prepared for humiliation and disrespect  even if we are behaving respectfully in His eyes,  respect from other people should never be a priority because desiring respect will lead to pride issues,  especially if you cannot tolerate not being given respect by people  God's opinion that you are beautiful and perfect in his eyes as a new forgiven creation should be enough

Is it important ? Yes. 

If people don't respect you, then you'll have issues ontop of an issue. 

What's respectful is synonymous with what we find as good. Respect is a byproduct of the Lord's ways, and it contributes to our wellbeing when we're respected.

Too much of anything isn't good. Wanting more and more respect is vanity, though we can obtain more respect through good works, then we'll be rewarded with more respect, and nothing more.

We don't need a lot of anything, but respect is important.

Yeah I'd say this is more about having enough power to rebuke people, a path people tend to take after feeling denied by them long enough. I mean you seem to think all people are attracted to you, so you must think pretty highly of yourself. 

You otherwise still do want everyone to think highly of you, as long as that is done through some means of respect for your power, and you don't particularly seem to like people over how difficult they make that need out for you to accomplish.

You aim to diminish the perception of those you perceive as your haters so that you do not have to internalize the things they are saying.

I disagree and I will never think of respect as important,  only showing God's love to other people

this forum becomes boring when you realize how delusioned everyone is by their own hypocrisy and projections,  It has for me  It is becoming more and more boring because of this reason  no one in this community wants to look past their own projections  or even heal their projections  meanwhile I am over here slaving away every day doing all of the appropriate Inner healing work  and It is showing in how happy and full of life and wisdom and joy I am becoming more and more  :)
