ah, cool.

the other day i was looking for hosting, google'd something like "best wordpress hosting" and went to one of the first results, wpbeginner.com. checked out hostinger and got a bunch of savings because i came through a referral link. so i imagine something similar can be done if you get up on one "top 10 best" lists on the top results for "best forum software." i'm guessing the sites get paid by referrals or something. don't know how realistic that is for your situation, though

how's everything going?

Admin sucks 2/10, it looks like a website relic from the mid 90s

There's not even any people on there too, and her subsections have a tendency to disappear whenever she feels like it.

She deleted one of the boards i made and a bunch of others

that is a good idea, maybe I should look into how to get ranked on those sites.

I am doing well! Still working in state government. I have been there 5 years now. Every year I gain more seniority and I love it. Now I have part timers and interns who do most of my work which I love. But being a sys admin is easy. I am still trying to get better at being a programer. Maybe in another 10-15 years I'll finally catch up to my brother in skill, but probly not lol

I hope you have been well?

mostly I just watch tickets submitted by staff for signs of issues within our agency and then fix the ones my interns or part time helpers don't know how to solve. I also make sure everyone has access to w.e accounts they need, with proper permission levels etc.

and then I train all new IT staff and basicly just do everything I can to keep the agency running well while shielding my director from having to deal with the small stuff. It is really easy work becasue I've done a good job making sure our systems are stable lol. The big challenge for me these days is learning to better utilize my part timers and interns without being a slave driver since I am naturally really kind and feel bad when I give them work

She's deleted tons of them, I think this is her third or fourth startup.

yeah BZ cost 100 dollars a month to keep online. Sometimes I give up on it and take it offline, but then later I have a change of heart and decide to keep trying lol

By comparison this place has remained up fairly consistently.

This place is a lot simpler I think. It does not try to be an infinite number of boards like BZ does. This place does not operate in real time besides the chat. It's just a lot less server intensive.
