The Fall Of Blizzard (and the company rape culture)

Blizzard was a very well-established and respected video game company, making some of the best games. But now, not only they do not make the best games, but they are apparently totally insane predators.

A California investigation in Blizzard that lasted for 2 years, has now become a lawsuit, suing Blizzard for rape culture. And I am the first to be skeptical of such claims, but this is totally insane lol, they are out of their god damn minds. This is not a fringe company, it's a multi-billionaire company, one of the giants in the industry.

I will make a list, then post some links. Here are some of the main points:

  • Men are busy getting drunk, instead of working, harassing women, sexually, as if its casual banter
  • They do these cube crawls: they get drunk and start moving through the open office space, which is basically divided in cubes, and as they crawl through them, they harass the women on the way
  • Women actually get payed less than men
  • Women are hired for their looks, not their expertise
  • When a woman complains to HR, not only nothing happens, but she gets threatened
  • These men are their superiors, not just their colleagues, imagine your superior goes behind you as you work and grope you and tell you how he wants to fuck you
  • The biggest one yet: on a company trip, a female worker was told to come with a butt plug by her male supervisor. On that same trip, pictures of her vagina were passed around. After this trip, she killed herself.
  • During company events, they would have scantily dressed female dancers, which is OK on its own, but adds to the following atmosphere: during the parties, the DJ encourages, by talking, not some vague bullshit, that female employees get drunk, so the male ones have a better time.
  • All of this was known to many superiors. Nothing was done.

They also have some suit called the "Cosby Suite", like Bill Cosby, but I think this was created before his rape allegations, so I am not sure it's related, I think it's some internal company meme. It has a big picture of Cosby in it.

Here is a link to an article on the subject:

Here is the lawsuit itself:

This is only the beginning, I will post more.

Cheery bye!

There’s a lot going on against Activision/Blizzard, even those going after them are at cross purposes:

 https://www.theverge.com/2021/12/14/22834691/judge-denies-california-dfeh-block-activision-blizzard-eeoc-lawsuit-settlement

“The denial prevents the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing from joining the EEOC’s lawsuit against Activision Blizzard in order to oppose the consent decree that accompanies the creation of an $18 million settlement fund. The DFEH filed the objection in October, stating that the consent decree would harm the state’s case against Activision Blizzard, asserting the decree could, among other adverse outcomes, potentially allow for the destruction of evidence necessary to the state’s case or release the company from state claims.

”The EEOC and the DFEH have been at odds over their respective cases against Activision Blizzard. In October, Activision Blizzard filed a stay against the DFEH lawsuit claiming some of the lawyers involved in the state’s case should be disqualified based on conflict of interest rules. Activision Blizzard filed this stay after the EEOC brought this conflict of interest information to its attention, which was notably after the DFEH objected to the EEOC’s consent decree and settlement. In Bloomberg’s report, the judge brought up this spat between the two public offices, calling it “unseemly.” “

Questionable moves against unionizing being made.  But it is interesting to note something…

“Brian Bulatao, chief administrative officer of Activision Blizzard and former Under Secretary of State for Management in the Trump Administration, recently penned a letter to employees on December 10th over plans to unionise. The email reportedly came following news that many staff were already joining the Communication Workers of America union. The email was made public by former Activision Blizzard employee Jessica Gonzalez, who departed the company in November.”

Sex in the work place can be fun. But please do it consensually. And use a condom. And don't get caught.
