Give them time, as society gradually stops putting them in a secondary role we're seeing them scoring higher marks them men scholastically (again, Australia shows women scoring 4% higher in math and science and 14% higher in reading).
It's not really surprising that teens under the influence of testosterone would be performing lower in classroom settings. Gender scores in standardized testing remain dichotomous along the axes one would expect given the links between testosterone and spatial reasoning, and estrogen and verbal fluency.

Really, imagine in civilized society if someone tried to win debate club or some shit with punching the opponent.
It's through more feminine values that we're able to build just societies in the first place, and in a correlative sense as societies advance towards equality we're seeing female strengths take over from being more relevant in the modern age.
My favorite thing about the "men are stronger" argument for male superiority/dominance is that humans are essentially the women of the animal kingdom. Pair us - unarmed - with literally any other apex predator and we're fucked.
