We became kind of friends or break buddies walking around in our break etc. She is very fat and she does not eat much at lunchtime. She brings up wanting to do more sports often etc. I ignore it but sometimes I slip when I'm not aware and when she is talking about a patient I am saying things like 'ooh, is it the fat one you are talking about?' and I can see how she gets uncomfortable, sometimes even covering her body more with clothes or posture. I kind of want to ask her about her weight issues and suggest it is a mental health issue but maybe it is not a good idea? She is a therapist but obviously a binge eater or whatever
It may seem innocent, but a guy and a girl doesn't simply stroll together 1 on 1 during break time without someone falling for the other. For example you're not exactly going on a daily stroll with Jason or Michael, that would be unusual if you're straight, and it would be unusual if there were no other interests in your regulated 1 on 1 encounters.
This fondness can escalate very easily if you're both single. Like a love story. The moments in life you've both been waiting for, unveiled.
If you want her to feel less ashamed about her weight then you already know what to do, in many ways. Call her thick in a more flattering way or something. However if you alleviate her shame in any way and she's more comfortable and open about it with you, she WILL come closer to you in ways you might not have anticipated, cause you're the one feeding her the supply she needs to feel better about herself.
There are 2 sports you can play with her that she will enjoy and not get overly exhausted.
- Badminton. Even if it's just you and her hitting the birdie with the rackets back and forth, you'll get a lot of playtime out of her. This is fun.
- Tetherball. That is, if you even have access to this, but if you do, don't destroy her. You want her to get into it and spike the ball, make comebacks etc. This game is actually hilarious when a guy and a girl play it and the match is long. Sure you can swing the ball higher than the opponent can jump at times, but that can only go on until the rope is short, giving the opponent an opportunity to make a comeback and maybe do the same thing.
Even if it the time spent with her isn't anything special and you just want to be her friend, play one of these sports with her anyway.
On a side note. If a more attractive woman comes along and if it seems like she's trying to take you away from the fat girl, don't fall for it. She probably wants some validation and by the time she's done things will get awkward between you and your friend, as you call her.

I do believe when we discussed flowers, it was about a boyfriend giving his girlfriend flowers. In that case, it was about romance.
Personally I don't use flowers, but I know people give them to ill people and for other various reasons. You must be shocked that I even know that cause you think you know me. I've been on the planet awhile. Simple.
