i like that elegant/ composed calculated approach when i go against machiavellians that have some sort of superiority complex, or even god complexes/ stoics

Emperor in my eyes is more of a pompous baiter. His behavior has a tendency to make foes overreach and make mistakes out of impatience and error.

Trap layers are hilarious when used correctly over how it makes the enemy look like something out of a slapstick comedy.

it's all about being able to switch on and off on the spot, being erratic, unpredictable, and chaotic

I find a single, consistent model to have a reinforcing effect on others' replies. Overtime they cannot help but understand it and, through that understanding, respond relative to it more than they would some rando.

Establishing an identity is not just useful for motivating yourself, but also for how others will be influenced by it. It has a stronger reinforcing presence when compared to some guy they just met, similar to the power one'd find behind a brand name.

in the end why not both?

The two mindsets are on opposite sides.

Emperor is pure avoidance and defense, laying traps and then baiting the foe to run through them. In the end his approach makes his foes look like they're trying three times as hard as he is, while they face the reality of trying to swordfight someone who's winning without a sword.

Berserkers just charge in, hit stuff, and take damage without ceasing. It's effective in the right circumstances but it's all offense and looks exhausting.

you can't do both at the same time but you can switch from one to another depends on the environment

i like your-emperor mode (which is pretty coward mind you) when i bait very, very, very, snobbish people

but when you bump into some berserk guy (like me)

as you can see he won't care and he will just go on and on and on

a real berserk is unstoppable, he doesn't care about traps, so eventually you will end up with a draw or just continue games

see exactly that's my point^

it's all offense and it looks exhausting but i can do it on auto mode- with lots of ease, cause i got a humongous ego plus i never get hurt cause i know that it's a front not my real suffer (like you said the helmet) so in the end you basically strike a cinema figure

if i wanted to actually counter someone with your type of emperor mode...

i would go full stoic + neutral, to the point of sheer aspergers, so in the end you would trap yourself eventually

but that's sooooooooo boring

That depends on how his health gambit works. If it's like Tryndamere from League of Legends or Brick from Borderlands for example the trick is outlasting them.

Trap layers are all about waiting and baiting, establishing the situation and terrain so that others are forced to play by their rules. That's why people fall for their traps at all, and if rendered a draw they can still be very annoying.

I'd argue that traps work better against pseudo-stoics, considering that it's a willpower mechanic with the potential to be milled down. Stoics are buriers, taking it all in until they explode, and once they explode they're essentially done.

By contrast the trap layer gets to rest and watch the other exhaust themselves.

100% correct about the stoics, at least all the ones i met, it's all matter of patience and composure

they don't fall for tiny traps but they pile up frustration and fall for the biggest

(something impossible for berserks)

however it is possible, at least with someone with strong ASPD traits to be <<actually stoic>> or at least pose as such to the point he simply never bends to others rules

i met some larpers in discord who could keep their larp up to 5 months with no breaks

however none of them was larping as an ascended stoic mastermind

you know what this could be fun

after i finish experimenting with my juggernaut badass mode i will try it and you can come to me

heheheeh
